Does anyone here still make chips and whatnot I am pretty much wondering if it is a good idea or not car is a 1990 z24 3.1 5 spd with a k and n air filter and a 2.5 inch collector back Magna flow. Would it be a good idea for a new chip because of my larger diameter exhaust changing the power band?

No. You really haven't changed anything with those mods.

But it sounds like you're about ready for a cam and port & polish and THEN you'll need a chip!

I don't know man. I've had bad luck with chips. Mine (1993 3.1) has a BATY PROM in it and we think it's Calif. emissions. When I tried to chip it, I lost speedo and it surged something fierce at idle. But Hypertech and Jet BOTH make chips that are SUPPOSED to work on our PROMS.

Sometimes I wonder if the old 3.1s are even worth the hassle. I just can't seem to get much power out of mine. I don't want to give up, but IDK what else to do.
