I understand that this may not be a straight swap out even if a digital cluster used to be in my car.
It is currently set up for an analog cluster that I just pulled out.
I was hoping someone in here may be able to point me in the right direction.
Or to a 1989 digital cluster!!!!

It is a completely different wiring harness for the digital cluster. If you now have an analog cluster, then that is what the car came with. Another thing that is also different is the sending unit at the transmission. There is even a difference in the harness between 88 and 89. On the 88 and earlier the vehicle speed sensor sends the signal directly to the digital dash and from there to the computer, while 89 the sensor is wired directly to the computer and from there the signals goes to the digital dash. So on the 88 if the processor in the dash is defective, it will still show the speed , but as far as the computer concerned, the car is standing still.
I figured there would be quite a bit of work to get this digital cluster(86-88) into my 89 analog.
I thought I found someone who had it all laid out on this website in a forum somewhere but I am now unable to locate the article.
They had stated exactly which wires needed to put where and add an outside temp sensor as well.
Even if that article wasn't to a 89 I think I may be able to locate which other wires would have needed to be swapped out in order to work.
im hoping to be able to combine information from these two manuals that I just purchased..
