4 those who have Yellows + Coilovers

This summer I'll be installing my Koni Yellows and Ground Controls. 1st any helpful tips? I did some searching and thanks to Cinny for the install instructions. Those are awesome!!!!

Other question being, how low do you ride with coilovers on the Koni Yellows. 2 inches? 1.5 inches? 1.7 inches? 2.5" inches? in the summer for normal driving. For shows I plan on lowering it maybe 2.5" inches and being damn careful I don't hit any big bumps or potholes. In the winter I'll jack the coils up. So what do you ride at?

I'm listening to this. I want to buy some yellows this summer for my ride. Finally have decided that the yellows would be a good upgrade with my camber plates. Thanks to all on the ORG for convincing me to do this.

this is how low i ride with my Ground Controls and Koni yellows.. well when im on steelies. i cant go nearly as low on 18s cuz the offset causes 1/4 panel lip to cut tires (ahhh). the front is all the way down and the rear has another 1/4 of the threads left to go down (useless, it would look goofy).

as for helpfull hints. just make sure u use 95-99 style mounts and modify them correctly. since doing mine right, i havnt heard a pop or any coil bind since.

the rear shock shaft dosent fit through the stock mount hole. it needs to be drilled out (atleast thats what i did). i think theres a how to somewhere on exactly what u should do with the rear mounts.

hope that helps.

I was reading something about a rear shock shaft trick or something of the sort in the past. I just searched and couldn't find it. If anyone finds it, please post up a link. I need to know this before I do it!

just remember riding around really low like 2.5" can blow the konis. there is no set limit on what they cover but if you abuse them, you cant get replacements.

yeah, im not saying its a good/smart idea to ride low on konis.

i knew someone would say something.

i dont rock that low for long. just fall time.

who says u cant get replacements?

they are very good with warranty work and replacement parts.

they can tell if the struts have been abused or not. if they consider them abused, then they wont send a new one

damn some springs drop 2.5 in in the rear and 2 in the front guess a person would have to drive really nice on those struts haha

Yep. If someone gets them replaced Koni must have found something else wrong with them that warranted the replacement. If you just ride around slammed all the time they will not warranty them.

Yeah those ultra low springs will blow any strut; and no company will warranty a strut blown that way.

Lol, are you saying that riding around totally slammed will blow whatever I throw up to the challenge? lol Well, I figured the Konis will hold up better than the rest and if not, I can always buy a set of tokico blues for cheap (since they are just gonna blow anyways). Found a whole set for around 250 shipped. But I would like to see how the blues hold up with a spring like the sprotline or s tech. Those are always an option with me.

my KYB GR2s held up to a full GC drop for over 2 years.

but i got lucky i suppose.

i dont suggest being slammed constantly. but if u can do it, might as well go low once and a while.

Yeah mt GR2s are actually holding up pretty well. I have had them on for three years now and I am thinking of getting some again due to cost and durability.
