Anybody know if there are any good springs that would go with stock shocks?

none. stock struts are barely good for oem springs. will any aftermarket springs work w/ stock struts? sure they will but they will blow the stock struts so its better to swap them all out at once

Only good springs that go with stock struts are OEM springs. Your stock struts are made to handle a certain height and to handle a certain amount of damper. By putting lowering springs on, you're shortening the amount your struts can absorb which will result and bottoming out.

^ True that people will do what they want to. It's just nice to get an opinion before you do it. At least they know the results going into it.

Many places out there tell you that stock struts will work just fine. Heck, GC even provides kits for putting their coilovers on stock struts. The least those places can do is warn people that the ride will totally suck, could be dangerous, could void insurance (yeah, comprimising your suspension voids many insurance policies; important if you get in an accident ya know).

There's concequences to being cheap. I just want people to know that before they slam stock struts. Once they know that, let Darwinism take over.

true you cant make them do it but when you make a post about it and you know what is going to happen when you lower on stock struts, its retarded. you know whats going to happen, why do it? if you wanna find out the hard way fine go head

The high tech Tein isn't much of a drop. Would they work? Just a thought. Not saying they would.

Yeah the Tein H-Tech 1.1", Tein S-Tech 1.1"/1.5", and Suspension Techniques 1.2" will all work on stock struts. Their spring rates are barely above stock. I really wouldn't recommend it, but I wouldn't really recommend against it either I suppose.

Yes, the stock springs work really well with them. Anything else I would not suggest.

well thats what i did not like its anything hard to do any ways and ive put 4000 miles lowered on these 30 000 mile struts no bounce or anything. everyone thinks its so taboo to lower a car 1 inch on stock struts. this car is my beater im not about to spend 500 bucks on struts that my car did nt need so i have my reasons for doing it.so yea i guess im retarded for not going overkill on a 9k dollar car

^^^^ They will blow. They might last a year, or onyl a week longer, but one day they will blow on you. It happens to everyone, so why try and cheat death? Why would you spend $250 on good springs, when you could spend $30.00 on Ebay coilovers. Sure they are crap, and will kill your suspension, but if :

Then who cares about how unsafe, and undependable it maybe. Why not save all the money and cut our springs? That would be the cheapest way, and if it's not your daily driver... who cares. It's not like you would be endangering anyone else, oh wait, you are by driving your unsafe car on public roads.

This is as dumb as people who say that they are better drivers when they drink. A danger on the road, but not smart enough to realise it.

??? What happened to my post? Didn't come out right... but I think you can get the point.

Sorry if I came off as an jerk. It's just not safe lowering on stock springs. An accident waiting to happen. Hopefully I can scare somepeople into doing their suspension properly.

Stock struts didn't even last 12,000 miles on my friends car on stock springs. You really think it is any better on a lowered application

Dropzone coil overs work excelent with stock struts!

PS this is a joke. If you are so stupid that you lower your car on stock struts, then you deserve to have them blow and cause you to get into an accident. I just hope that you don't injure your passengers, or anyone else when you lose control of your car. I don't want anyone to get injured... I just don't want your dumbass driving your death-trap on the road with me.

If you're even considering this, why don't you just grab an acetelene torch, light it up, heat your springs, and have a 300 pound gorilla stand on top of the car? You're pretty much going to get the same result, which is getting yourself hurt, and you won't spend any money, so your family can spend the money you saved to help pay your hospital bills.

wow are you over reacitng hoping that i die because i didnt put struts on a 1" drop. when my strut s blow i will replace them with quality ones but for right now why should i fork out the money to replace ones that work. ALL stock struts blow eventually lowered or not so calling my car a deathtrap and saying im going to be in an accident is a little extreme when it could happen to any car on the road at any time.

kyb gr2 are a stock replacement, they are supposed to handle a 1.4 inch drop. i dropped my car 1" (Suspension techniques springs) on stock struts this is a far cry away from heating up the springs. i dont mind debating the issue fellas but saying im stupid ,im going to the hospital is a little absurd for an argument i dont see why so many people on this forum start bashing when they dont agree with someone else.

I'm not trying to bash you, despite my sarcasm, I'm trying to keep you from getting hurt. There's no guarantee that you'll blow a shock while driving down the freeway, but let's expect the unexpected for a minute. Let's say you toss the valving in one of your shocks, the car gets a little squirrely, and you lose control of your car and wreck. Are you prepared to explain to your insurance company you did something to your suspension you knew full well you shouldn't, and that is why they have to order a bunch of parts and pay a body man to get that light pole, guard rail, or somebody else's bumper out from under your hood?

You know you need to replace the hsocks with the proper pieces, so why not just do it now? I'm saying this because I've already been there. I'm driving my second car in six months because I did things the cheap way. The scenario I just mentioned is exactly what happened to me. I put Eibach Sportline springs on the stock suspension, blew a front strut, lost control of my car and slammed into a guard rail - at 75 MPH - and my insurance agent told me to f*ck off when I made my claim because I should have known better. Even Eibach told me so.

I'm not saying the same will happen to you, but history repeats itself, which is why we have evolution. Evolve. Learn from others' mistakes. Prevent history from becoming destiny. Don't skimp on the parts. You want to gut out your cat, use PVC pipe for an intake, spray paint the rust to hide it, leave air bubbles in the window tint, fine. But when it comes to important things, like suspension, don't skimp..
