I just received my Addco rear anti sway bar, after reading the skimpy directions that come with the bar, I did a search here to see what was left out. it appears that i need the drill the hole and put the large black bolt though it and tighten a nut on the other side. well that seems to be no big deal. however i only have two large bolts, no nuts ( and no pun intended,)
I really just wanna know if i need to hit the auto store before I get under the car.or if anyone knows if something has changed
my next stop is Addco themselves, but I was hoping people with more J-body experience / knowledge could help
check out teamforwardmotion.com thye have a step by step that is awesome
I'd jack my car up and take some pics but the underbody is probably covered with snow and dirt.
Yep, you are missing some nuts. Go to the hardware store and get some decent grade bolts with some matching nylon lock nuts and you should be fine.
Yeah,
Missing the nuts and bolts is no big deal.
I just got mine, and honestly I'm not gonna use ANY of the WIMPY GRADE 5 bolts they supply. Got me some ARP bolts, and lock nuts and other stuff.
BIG waste of money, but that's just me.
But seriously, hit the hardware store and get the good stuff.
Now had you said you were missing 'V' brackets, or the end brackets then I'd go after Addco.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
my grade 5's do just fine thankyou.
You should have
big huge bar thingy
2 U bolts (even tho they look like v's)
2 flat pieces of steel with holes in them
2 curved pieces of flat steel (for the bushings on crossmember)
2 angle brackets for connecting to the rear trailing arm 1 for each side
4 bolts, 2 long(for end links), 2 short for connecting to the trailing arm.
8 washers for the endlinks i believe 4 washers for each side that go around the endlink bushings
2 bushings for the middle of the bar
4 bushings for the ends of the bar.
8 nuts total (2 per u bolt, 1 for each endlink, and 1 for each angle bracket)

If you're sway bar manages to fall off, doubtfull considering there's 4 bolts holding it on, it's not going to cause you to lose control of the car. Grade 5 is overkill enough. Not to mention that if you do manage to hook the bar on something, I'd rather have the bar torn off because of the cheap bolts, than have the axle torn off cause that's what it's bolted to. Just a though.
well for some reason grade 5 or better 14 mm nuts are hard to find, at least in this area. I did however find 1/2" grade 8 nuts and bolts the right length.( slightly smaller 12.7 mm i think 1" = 2.54 cm ) this might be a good thing in the end since the largest metal drill bit i have is 1/2" also.
the end link brackets aren't all that great, it looks like someone halfarsed it or the blade for cutting them out is really old. i was going to put in the rear tie-bar at one point and still have the undrilled brackets.( see events post on making one yourself)
