I have a 96 cavalier z24. The left rear brake cable broke where it attaches to the lever near the shoes (i guess thats what you call it). I got it off when it attaches to the lever but I cant get off them little clamps where the front cable meets the rear. HELP BEFORE IT GETS DARK!
It attackes to the rear brake lver by a little hook and spring.
yea the little hook is like a square at the end and the lever hangs in there... but it broke now i have to replace about 2 1/2ft of cable where it meets the front cable. Kinda hard to explain...I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP! TAHNKS
You cant just tape up the inner cable, your gonna have to get a whole new one. Try getting on from a junkyard.
So which cable is broke? The front or one of the rear?
I have a front laying around here, still good, that I'll sell ya cheap.
I'll warn you, It's a real pain to replace.
If it's a rear cable, they're much easier to replace. You can get them fairly cheap (<$20) at most parts stores.
Either way, like El Fuego said, you can't fix a cable. Once it's broke, it's done for.
