Tie front and rear together??
Monday, April 17, 2006 2:54 PM
So I have sway bars, and eventually will be getting strut tower braces (any recomendations for 03-05 front and rear with CC).
Later im goign to be picking up a K brace, and a tiebar (does anyone sell kits or do i have to purchase the parts invidiually, becuase im scared of ordering wrong parts). So my next quesiton is is it a good idea/how do i tie the front and the rear of the car together, becuase i want the stiffist suspension possible for autox

thanks!

AFAIK, there is nothing like that out there for 3rd gens. Its called a subframe connector (or something along those lines). It basically goes from the rear of the front subframes to the rear axle attachment points. Look through some Mustang sites to find pics of what they call "ladder braces". Its only square tubing welded up like a ladder that bolts to the unibody. Good to have, but, like I said, nothing that I know of available.

Someone on here was thinking about doing it... they had a shop that made them for another car... Talon? Hyundai something? Can't remember... it was big and powdercoated red.

Of course, in typical JBO fashion, everyone laughed at him and told him he was a moron...

Sorry man, no leads. I can't find it searching. Maybe someone else will remember the thread tho.

I remember the thread. Most agree it would work just as well as the rear seat floor brace. The J-body doesn't flex hardly at all axially. There's nothing in the back to flex the frame much. I think it went from the rear axle mount points to the his front sub-frame brace.

With a mustang the power is all getting put on the pavement in the rear, and the engine being in the front it twists against the frame quite a bit, so there's some flex in the frame that can be braced against.
