do all N-Bodies have independant rear suspension? or is it just the alero?
Buick Skylark & Somerset, Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Achieva, Alero, Calais & Cutlass and the Pontiac Grand Am are all of the N-body platform. is it all identical or do some of them sport drum brakes/different size stuff.
99+ Grand Am, Alero, and Malibu.
all Malibus have rear drums, all Aleros have rear disc, and Grand Ams have drum (SE) or disc (GT).
Only the 5th gen N-body has IRS (99-05). Like Ian said.
Not entirely true.. base Aleros in 03-05 can be found with drums... at least, here in Canada.
97 -04 malibu and classic - all had rear drums
97-04 alero , im not 100% sure if that is when the alero started - mostly rear disks , but did have drums
99-05 grand am - only GT's have rear disk , other trim levels have drums
and ive seen alero's with rear drums here also
the grand ams were the last of the N's to get updated to that platform
thanks for clarifying my post...

The first year for the Alero was 99, BUT Olds did have a Cutlass built on the new N-body platform in 97-99 I believe (looked identicle to the Malibu for the most part) Not sure what it had for rear brakes.
