These settings are from the Haynes Manual for 95-2000 J Body's.
Strut Rod Nut - 52 Ft Lbs
Strut Mount Bolts and Nut - 18 Ft Lbs
Strut to Steering Knucle Nuts - 133 Ft Lbs
Good post man. Good information to have.
Regards,
J
the numbers i've seen are so conflicting...
it says this on the stuff i have
65ft lbs for strut rod nut
21ft lbs for strut mount/bolt (for 2000+)
129ft lbs for steering knuckle
Meltdown.
Where you get your info. I have the instructions from the Monroe Sensa-Trac struts and it confirms the info I posted save for one problem.
It shows the J-Body at 65 Ft Lbs and the Malibu at 52 Ft lbs (Malibu's must use our JBody Strut). I think they have it mixed up as Haynes puts it at 52 Ft Lbs for 95 - 00 J's.
Not that Haynes are god's cause I have seen mistakes in their manuals.
Either way do not use an impact wrench as obviously this nut does not need a tremendous amout of torque. I bet a lot of installs have gone awry cause of over powering that nut on.
some of it came from the gabriel mounts i bought, some from my koni/gc instructions
So, 65 ft.-lbs for the strut rod nut, then?
Are the front & rear struts the same torque?
mount bolts are def 18 ft lbs, my gm service manual says so
