tein ss vs. new gravanas

im going to get a new suspension setup soon but i need to decide which setup to get my main concern is i want my car to be low with out it riding like crap, so i was wandering if anybody had some pics of their car after putting on the tein super street setup ??? and the gravanas ?? im kinda thinking the tein's because of the edfc and the mounts but i dont know if they are going to be low enough ???? i heard the struts come alot shorter than stock so right of the bat they are already lower. but im not sure so if u guys can help me out that would be sweet.

put it this way, when you install the tein SS to the instructions stock specs, there is virtually no finger gap at all.....which scared the sh-- outta me initially. i literally raised it nearly 1.5 inches off the bat. it will prob go up another .5 inches soon.

not really into the slammed ordeal where the car looks like the suspension is broken like old cars and collapsed springs.

the most optimal handling is when the arms are parralell to the ground, not dipped. thats on any car really.

if gravana can make pillow balls for the front AND REAR, which i know he/the company is more than capable of, then it will pretty much be a toss up. remember, rubber flexes, and in turn takes away from the precision.

so camber plates for the front and the rears are still on rubber. kinda like autoXing on 200$ tires up front and pep boys 35$ tires in the rear.

also do note most of the people saying "comfortable ride and slammed" are those with stock tires which the sidewalls have a decent amount of cushion to em. nothing wrong with that, but keep in mind is your setup the same or bigger tires than them.

many people get same setups, have different wheel sizes and give bad reviews cause the ride is harder. and gravana shouldnt take that type of blame for user error.

these are just factors you should know about, cause if you run larger wheels, the tires sidewalls get smaller and in turn, harder...so more road feel is transfered.

honestly, dont ask for pictures, find someone local and go ride with em an determine for yourself.

i just gave mastin a ride tonite, and changed the settings a bit to give him an idea of what to expect mid-ride.

pictures can be misleading, and after one incident on here, where a person said "oh, my car rides perfectly fine" when he used COILOVER SPRINGS on STOCK STRUTS....NO SLEEVES!!!, JUST THE SMALL COILOVER SPRINGS from some ebay crap coils...

i still have the gash on the top of my head from hitting a small bump, but my head hit the roof in the back seat. (scrufdog was riding up front-he's taller)

alot of people claim great rides, but many are misleading at times. not saying anyone here is misleading you, but its always better to try and experience for yourself.

Yeah,
Doesn't take many clicks to feel a diff when adjusting for the damping on the Teins.

Just gonna have to wait and see with the Gravana's.

I e-mailed Jim Gravana about the pillowball mounts he's having made and found out they're only making them for the front. "No need for rear's" was his response. So I'm waiting for my TeinSS's and selling my never been mounted Gravana's...

Think about it.......you don't see a thread saying "Tein trouble shooting" with like 175 posts and it never seems to drop off the first page do you? This should tell you something....actually this should be screaming something at you. I can hear it now.........."Get the Teins"!!!
Just my $0.02

i dont understand funky bottoms you are saying that there is like no finger gap at all with your teins , when i talked to tein they said its only 2.5 inch height adjustability my prostreets are 3.5 and i have them down about that low and i have 2 finger gap on my setup???. and tein said not to lower there setup any lower than like 1.8 inch drop so i dont see how you are that low im not saying your lying but it doesnt make sense between my setup and yours ??? how can you be lower than me. and dude i love to have someone localy give me a ride in their car with the teins but i dont know anyone localy with them if i did im sure i would be sold instantly haha oh yea do the camber plates make much of a difference??? thanks

I believe thats because tein makes a shorter coilover from the get-go, then you can adjust from there 2.5 inches. When I first got my teins I was palying with and just wanted to see how low they can go(without driving on them) and I could tuck my stock 16's with no finger gap at all. 225/(60 or 55)/R16 tires I dont remember which.

I have the gravana's, i have 240sx pillow ball mounts on my fronts. The ride gets quite a bit low, low enough not to get your floor jack back, also they ride very smooth, i'm gravana all the way!

NEW SIG COMING SOON FOR 07'!!!

keep in mind its 2.5 inch height adjustability ON A SHORTER STRUT. decently shorter than the pro streets (i had one of the original sets up until a few months ago). also remember theres no additional helper spring. so comparing those two is not really a good measurement.

the overall spring length is different, the same as the overall strut length. shorter struts get more travel when lowering. hence the reason why more companies are using them.

also, i stated
Quote:

i literally raised it nearly 1.5 inches off the bat.

mainly cause i had already checked their warranty and limitations before they were even available. paying 1400$ just to damage something isnt the smartest...

also, another reason why you have so much gap....

Quote:

bridgestone potenza re-01 tires 215/45/r17

you're not even running the right size tire. 225/45/17 is the tire size anyone with 17's should be running. hence its a small change, but the smaller size offers more wheel gap just the same.

also my finger gap, compared to YOUR FINGER gap.... how small or large are you?
