So I took the advice from a search I found on the org to see if my strut mounts are gone to h#ll. The advice was to rock the car to see if theres any movement in the mount, I had no movement. Then I left the hood up and drove over a bump and yet again my dad saw no movement but there is still a squeel/creak. So we sprayed down some of the bushings with silicone lube to see whats gonna happen. But basically if you rock the drivers side or turn the steering wheel all the way to the left you can hear the noise. What is it?
How many miles do you have on them? The stock mounts suck, atleast I think they do.

I'm not sure how many miles on them because I bought the car used with 56k on it, today it has 68k on it. I just don't want to start changing out the strut mounts if its not it. I want to do a good diagnosis.
Well, I think that with 68k on the car it is a sage bet that those could very well be it. Even if you change them and it doesn't fix it, you can atleast be assured that the new ones will be good for a while.

Change them. Mine went at only 40,000 miles. And they need changed again. Once you have done one side the other is a breeze.

do I have to change both? do I need an alignment after? and do I need access to an impact wrench?
Yes Yes and no. You will need to rent a spring compressor from an auto part store.

Changing them wouldnt hurt..but they are damn expensive in my area. nappa wanted 176 per mount before I laughed in their face and walked out. Noise isn't always an indication that a mount has gone bad, my right front for example. just got lowered this week and decided itd be best to change the mounts all around being i'm at 65k mi. Turns out the right front ring that holds the bearings in had sheared in half and spit out the bearings atleast 10k miles ago. The ring was bone dry yet didn't squeek or wear on the old gr2 struts I had put on. Just goes to show, better safe then sorry.
I"m pretty sure my strut mounts are going, when I turn the wheel either direction, I hear a pluck of a spring. I have 135k miles on mine. Probably should have been changed 40k miles ago.
But the sound has only been there for a couple months.

sure, change them both now. you do need an alignment, so its better to just pay once rather than twice. impact wrench is not a necessity, but will help do the job 100x better than without it.
