clicking/poping sounds while at low speeds (HAPPENS 1 CLICK/POP PER WHEEL REVOLUTION) - stock 03 z24
I have a clicking poping sound coming from what seems to be the brakes / cv joint
So far I have replaced
* rotors
* pads
* calipers
* left hub assembly
* left axle TWICE
The extremly annoying noise stops when lightly pressing the brake while in parking lots or in traffic on the hwy.
After replacing the rotors/pads/calipers this has stopped for a few days.
Reading through the posts lots of us have similar problems, this is my 2nd cavalier and all I gotta say is the suspensions on our cars kinda suck as the '94 had similar issues until i practically changed everything possible.
My thought its the CV joint... somehow I don't trust my parts store even thou its LIFETIME warranty.
Any help would be very appricated.
Thanks
Sounds like a CV joint. They make a pretty distinctive popping noise usually.

You have good points. With regards to the pads, they are not cracked or poorly worn, I was thinking they were loose too and did put some brake silicon and adjucted the clips for a tighter hold... of course it didn't work.
So then I replaced the CV axle - twice already.
I think Napa is not the best place for them but they offer lifetime warranty... so I think i'll bring it back to them again.
Last night I replaced the Hub assembly ... the old one was removed in 2 pieces... it came apart but problem still exists.
When making U-turns I hear clicking/poping louder, not sure if faster or slower... i'm thinking faster... but that would mean it would be coming from the right wheel (when making left u turns) but I hear it from the left side LOL
Unless the stock cv axle on a GM would go after 120,000km.
*Reason I replaced the driver side CV is cause when the car was being towed over a year ago the axle was bent after the car was towed to the garage... the tow truck driver must have did something.
Never could prove it thou.
Thanks for your input,
i have the same problem with my stock 2004 cav and my mechanic told me that it is my upper busings and front struts i have yet to replace them soim not to sure if it is true or not
chris m is right. I work at a Chevrolet Dealership in the garage. We just had a 05 in today that had both upper mounts and lower seats replaced.
