Rebuilding Koni Reds
Monday, December 11, 2006 2:36 PM
I have a set of Koni reds and the fronts are pretty much done. I do not have the original receipt because these were on the car when I purchased it and the owner had lost the receipt.

Should I spend the cash to get them rebuilt by Koni, or another company that is able to rebuilt them or just consider them junk and just go buy a set of yellows..... (BTW, I am in Canada, therefore would have to spend quite a bit of cash to get them shipped to and from Koni plus whatever the cost is to have them rebuilt)

Thanks

I would go with the yellows, the reds seem liek huge waste, having to remove them completely to adjust them is rediculous, it't be worth the extra money to be able to go fulkl firm to full soft on all all 4 in about a minuet as opposited to a removeing the whole suspension then realigning the car and then doing it over and over till you get it how you want it.

Well, this is my DD/winter car, so adjusting the suspension isn't needed. I just want it comfortable, and for now, it seems stock will have to do

Well, I have no reason to spend $2g on 2 Sunfires suspension.

I was just thinking of getting these rebuilt and then selling for cheap, my other Sunfire are either getting Yellows or AGX's.

If you are going to get rid of them for cheap, let me know. I am interested in taking them apart and trying to rebuild them. I ve never taken konis apart so I am not sure I can, plus I wont be able to re-gas them.

The rears are fine... apparently its mostly the passenger side that is done...... but if I get rid of them, I will let you know.

I am not sure what is needed to rebuild/revalve these things. Everyone I have asked, have said to send them to Koni if you want it done right since they have the right parts and machinery to do the job.

I have access to the parts and tools needed, except to re-gas them. And I have a plan for that anyway.

Thanks for the opinion. I am leaning on AGX's or perhaps the Tokicos? We'll see in the spring when I make the purchase.
