JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

it took me roughly $20 in pizza and pepsi and my buddies and i installed it in 1.5-2 hours, with air tools. I used the post made by little bill...or maybe it was cinny, either way it was a good write up with pics.

Can you post the link to the guide? I did a search and can't find any install guide.

I am also going to do the motor mounts at the same time and any advice on those would be appreciated. As for tools all i got is a good set of hand tools, 2 ton hydralic floor jack, 2 jack stands and lots of wood. My only real question with the monts is how to support the engine and if the front of the car can/should be in the are as well. I can't really get under the car if it isn't in the air though.

Sorry if thread jacked this. Kinda on the same topic though.

Thanks

I installed my motor mounts not too long ago. The lower one can be removed and installed without a jack. I used a floor jack with a piece of wood between the jack and oil pan, and used the jack to rock the motor while inserting the bolts into the motor mount.

My top mount was a insert, and nothing needed to be done for that. If you have a TTR full mount, then you may need to support the motor.

For the front sway bar, I'm not entirely sure. I have my addco front bar sitting in my living room right now, and my fiance wants me to install it soon. So I'm bumping this thread for more replies.

Like you, I also only have afew hand tools, a floor jack, and 2 jack stands. I installed my rear sway bar last night, and found it pretty easy. Hopefully the font one is also pretty easy.

Sorry for a thread jack, but on a 2200, is there enough room to drop the k-brace without removing the header? I'm hoping that the header will not get in the way of my install.

That is what i was thinking for the lower mount. So that works all right? It doesn't look too hard of an install.

I guess i need to take another look at the upper engine mount. Isn't there anything i need to take off or something to get the insert in there? From what i remember there are a few bolts on what looks like a cover but i didn't want to start taking bolts out and have the engine drop off the mount.

Yea the rear ended up way easier to install then i thought, first suspention mod i have done. Now that i know the basics of what is going on i don't think the front will be much harder. The shop that quoted me on its install said alldata says the A-arms have to be removed/unhooked to get the swaybars in or out. Shouldn't be too hard but i don't know what that means as far as support of the front end parts.

I also have the control arm bushings, i got the whole mount and bushings kit from Gravana (sp?), and if i drop them for the front sway bar i would replace them as well. A bit more work. You know anything about those?

Good luck on your install, i will post up if i get my front done before you.

FSB Install - Same regarless of engine:
1. Jack up car, take off wheels.
2. Pull lower engine mount, and driver's side support (subframe to radiator).
3. Pull 6 subframe bolts and lower subframe carefully (had to pull mine to get it down actually).
4. Pull 2 bolts for old sway bar, and 2 endlinks.
5. Replace sway bar, it fights you but it will fit.
6. Reverse of above to put it back together.

Lower engine mount:
1. Pull two bolts
2. Replace mount
3. Put back together.
Might be plastic shrouds in the way if they're not broke, 7mm driver takes care of that though.

Upper engine mount on 2.3/2.4:
1. Put jack with wood under engine. Jack until just barely supporting engine.
2. Pull mount all apart, several bolts (like 7 or something 13mm bolts).
3. Replace mount.
3. Put back in reverse order.

Any special torques for any of those bolts I need to remove to do this?
Or should I just tighten them all down pretty hard?
Or should I invest in a shop manual?

Sway Bars:
Everything but the end-links just tighten down as much as possible (don't get crazy with the 3' cheater bar or anything, but darn tight).
The end-links should only be tight enough that nothing moves plus a full turn.

Mounts: Regular tight is good enough, you'll know by how hard they are to remove what they should go back.

A haynes book would be a great idea. Or chilton if you're more mechanically inclined. Both are the same company, geared for different readers.

cost of front sway bar (gag)

1. left knuckles
2. right knuckles
3. fore head (wife honked the horn when I was under the car)
4. 2 beers (had to take a break before I took it out on the car)
5. 4 hours (did it by myself)

ride quality once done.....priceless.
