New suspension ideas with heavy weight in rear
Friday, January 12, 2007 5:41 AM
Hi guys,

I need a fairly inexpensive suspension. My stock is tired. I don't want any more drop than what I have now, just need a suggestion for some shocks/struts and where to get some inexpensive top hats. I have about 400ish pounds of wholesome subwoofer loving in the rear - any suggestions?

Stock springs? KYB GR2s. I have them and love them for a basically stock setup.

Will GR2's be good with the extra weight in the rear? It drops it maybe an inch.

The drop isn't going to effect it. If you currently bounce bad you might want to up it to KYB AGXs or something more extreme like Koni Yellows or Tokico D-Specs.

Good call good call. Do you know where I can get the front strut mounts inexpensively? I got the 2 rear ones for less than 25 shipped, and it looks like everyone wants an arm and a leg for the front.

one of my friends has an 02 monte carlos with a pretay redulous stereo setup, that alone made the car unlevel, the rear saged, plus on top of it he toyed his wave runner with it as well, not a whole lot weight but extra weight non the less. He was looking into suspension stuff to get the rear back up, the solution he found was buying a brand new spring form GM and sending it out to a company to have them custom make him a set for the rears meant to hold however much extra weight.

I don't remember the company he delt with but the end result turned out great.

That's almost like I need, I might even try a new set of GM springs. Heck, the suspension is 10 years old, that might even help.
