I come to you Tein SS coilover peeps for help!
Im looking to get them for a project im thinking of undertaking and would like multiple opinions on these questions.
the numbered scale will be 1-10, 1 being you absolutly hate the design and 10 being nothing could change the way you love them.
If you have a chance explain why you rated it the way you did.
Questions:
Rate the ride when the set up is all the way up:
ride quality
body roll
body bounce
( body bounce meaning you hit a low spot in the road and the suspension squat down)
Rate the ride when "slammed"
ride quality
body roll
body bounce
If any one has the Tein SS coil overs and is reading this can you PLEASE fill it out!!
Thanks to any one who does!
I don't know about "all the way up" and "slammed." I left the SS' at the Tein recomended height and I've left it alone.
Ride quality - vary depending on damping settings. hard is too hard, soft is too soft, middle is just right for me. I'm looking forward to getting the EDFC though so I can dial up a softer ride on those days where I don't feel like being tossed about.
Body roll - can't say entirely, I've also got 1" Addco sway bars front and rear. It's pretty flat though.
Body bounce - none, the car pretty much follows the road. if there's a dip in the road my car goes down and up along with it, there's no lag in the suspension response.
If you live somewhere with crappy roads, look into adding some sound damping material like dynamat to your door panels, or otherwise damping them, because they start to creak as they flex.
I've got the SS setup w/ EDFC and you can't ask for anything better.
The one thing I can tell you about these struts is that the ride height makes VERY little difference on the ride quality. I've had mine where tein puts them, then lifted them alittle. For a while there I've also dropped them so low to almost tuck the stock 16's and the ride was great at any height. The first thing you'll learn when you spend that much money on your struts is that you dont want to abuse them so I put them up a little higher than how Tein sends them to you and run with them there. I'd say about 1"-1.5" drop or so.
Hope this helps.
thanks guys! just out of curiosity ... how much of a drop does tein set them at to be at the safe spot? like how much wheel gap? Any pictures possibly?
i dont have pics, but IIRC it looks much like a sportline drop. You can find those pics around here somewhere if you search for them.
My sig? I know you can't see the tires, but those are 17" rims on there.
they have adjustable damping on them so i imagine that they would ride good at either height, you would just have to adjust the damping.
