hey,
just recently got a used z24 on a day that was about 15 outside. car was fine.
in colder temps the right rear rattles and goes away at about 65 kms or nearly as well as on the hwy.
i called the guy i bought it from and it says it's the rear strut mount and it doesn't happen in warmer weather at all.
anyone know about this? he said it was something he fixed several times under warranty and it keeps happening.
if i go out and buy a strut mount, will the noise go away or do i need a strut as well.
my mechanic was under the car two nights ago doing my breaks and told me that everything looks fine and to live with it but I wanna loose that rattle lol, it pisses me off!
so will a strut mount do the trick and how much can i expect to pay for putiing in a new one?
thanks for any help
hmmm, first thing you can do is try and locate as many bolts and or screw and what not, and see if you can tighten them down.
if that doesnt do it, i guess maybe try and get the strut mount, but if its been replaced several times, maybe that particular strut has something wrong with and in dire need of replacement.
so i got a new strut mount, though my mechanic said i didn't need one.
the car was in the garage for about an hour so when i first test drove it the rattle was gone then came back after 10 mins after whatever is rattling got cold.
please help me loose this rattle noise!
so today i went back and my mechanic took things apart once more at no extra charge, still insisting i don't need a strut or anything and re-tightened everything as well as spraying greace.
after that it's a tad better but noise is still there.
this only happens in the winter/ cold but i don't understand cause the left side is quiet?
anyone have any ideas or have this happen on there z24?
please help.
I've got same problem in my '03 Sunfire. Damn rattle really got on my nerves! I pulled everything apart (and of course put it back together after that) and efffin noise is still there.
sounds like a metal plate rattle. I'm gonna try to fix it again this weekend; will let you know if anything.
My dad said it could be some nut or bolt (or some pice of sh!t) stuck there rattling. Maybe I should squirt some foam in there and see how it turns out?
Any ideas?
lol, ok then... dynamat the crap out of the car... lol might not "fix" the rattle but ill bet u it supresses it a lot
what's dynamat? lol
SuN FuyaRRR... please get back anfd let me know if you fix that problem!
I'll kiss your feet. (Not really)
this noise is like a tap dripping at night!
I replaced my GM strut mounts with Monroe aftermarket ones... never heard a peep from them since.
