Hey, I'm looking into tryin to get my Cavy into Auto X racing. IMO I think Auto X is more for a 4cyl then a str8 drag strip.
Currently, my car has tein springs (1.7 front/1.5 rear) with the Tokico Dspec adjustable struts/shocks. I don't really know anything other than the basics when it comes to suspension, but I do know AutoX is all about how fast you can take them turs
So my question is, and I'm lookn to spend some money, so what do I need to do to get an awesome Auto X Car?
thanx
check out the sticky on top of the page lots of juciy info for reading, you will need to know your stuff before you get into auto x
'spit chew hits soldiers boot'
"thats a real nasty habit you got there"
"this stuff will make you a sexual tyransaur just like me"
jesse the body ventura in Predator
that is a decent setup for autox. I'd go with F/R sway bars, GM front strut bar, poly bushings, and a bucket of fun
wat about upper strut/shock mounts? settings for the struts/shocks. should i do the IRS swap? andi know this is a suspension post but wat about power and trannies? I know I need to know my stuff before getting on the track, and that is why I'm here.
also, i dont really know much about sway bars...
I can't say about D-spec settings as I don't run 'em. I use AGX's... 3f, 6r on Eibach Pro-Kits
Sway bars, I'm running an Addco front and Progress rear (25mm F/ 22mm R)
IRS puts you in SM (street modified) immediately. That = not a chance unless its a small class (read: no other competitors)
Strut mounts are a normal wear/tear item... depending on mileage, you may need to replace them.
Power/tranny - check out Darkstars' post in the Racing forum
I think you would have better results if you left the car like it is, keep using street tires, and pay for a driver's school. Evolution school is supposed to be an excellent one.
The more you modify the car, the more the car is going to cover up your driving mistakes. If you are hell bent on adding more modifications to it, do it before you start racing so the car's handling is consistent during your learning curve.
If you wanna spend money. Get a set of rims and tires, after you roast your stock ones while learning.
Other possibilities, Intake, cold or warm, doesn't matter. Cat-back exhaust. Probably the easiest things to do.

X 10. Modifying the spacer should be your first order of business.
