I was wondering if this part is easy to fix or should just take it to a shop to be done Help!!!
Sorry no one answered, First thing is fill out your registry. I've learned from on hear that people wont, and sometimes cant help to much without knowing what type of car you have.
As far as CV joints, I've come to understand that its better to just change the whole axle (some may disagree, just IMO.). Of course I don't know what type of axles you have, hence filling out your registry
I just changed my axles, I have a 3speed automatic. Its intimidating at first but if you're mechanically inclined,and done anything major to your car before, you'll be able to do it. Search the forum. It may take a while but there IS good info buried in here.
It isnt hard at all man..get a haynes manual or something along those lines and follow the steps really cant be much easier thn that..and yes for the cost just replace the whole shaft..phil

I brought mine a NAPA, both were close to $300 like $130 a piece, $60 + $50 core charge. Whoever changes the axles, you or shop, KEEP THE OLD AXLES! Return the old axles to wherever you buy the new axles and you'll get the core charge back.
P.S. I had originally went to Autozone, but they gave me one axle with a chipped exciter ring, and the other had been disconnected at the joint and was for a different Jbody tranny! Make sure you inspect it before u leave the store! If your not sure just by looking at it, take a breaker bar and 28mm socket ( ibelieve, double check the axle nut size ), take off the axle nut, and take it with u to the store. Spin it on the axles your about to buy. If it goes on no problem, your fine.
Remember to also look at the boots to see if the joints been pulled out, and the exciter ring ( gear near the threaded end of axle ) for chips.
here is the trick. buy rebuilt ones. a cv joint rebuild kit cost more than a complete rebuilt halfshaft.
i got one rebuilt haflshaft for 70ish.
