OK so, what are the warning signs of a bad strut mount? my car rides like a freaking tank right now on my coilovers so I can't tell. I'm redoing the whole suspension in a few weeks and I want to replace them then if they're bad (which, I'm guess they are because I royally f'd up my last suspension install like an idiot)

or the clunck could be your motor shifting if you have a broken motor mount.
anyway if they are bad, they would clunck when you go over a bump or creek. if you do need new strut mounts get the 95-99 mounts. those mounts are much better. they are a 3 piece mount and usually its the bearing inside the mounts that go bad. well with the 95-99 mounts, you can pull them apart and replace the bearings for like 10 bucks. however the 00+ are all 1 piece mounts. if they go bad you have to buy a whole new mount which is going to run you about 60 bucks.
btw the 95-99 mounts will mount in your car.
Why does eveyone keep having problems with their mounts? Is it because of more stress due to lowering? I am about to install agx's and prokits on a 05 cavalier, does this mean I am going to have to keep replacing mounts?
no, there is no extra stress on the mounts at all. when you lower it, the lower you go the more stress is put on your cv joints
where can i by the bearings for 10.00? cheapest i found is 23.99 a side
^ wow let me know where you can find them for 23.99....cheapest i've found is like $60

for the bearing or the whole mount? the whole mount should be like 60 bucks. anyway i think advance autoparts has them for like 15 bucks if you look on their site. if you need bearings let me know. i have 4 brand new ones from gm sitting at my house still in the box.
well mine's an '04 so I have to buy the whole mount for an older car so i'll have the ability to change just the bearing in the future.

question. my car suspension rattles like crazy. is the strut mount on the front or rear. and can i really buy strut mounts for 10 dollars if its for a 95-99. i cant believe the price difference between a 95-99 strut mount and a 00+ strut mount is that much. and can someone post pictures of the strut mount for a 95-99 and a strut mount for a 00+. i dont get why the 95-99 is 3 pieces and 00+ is one piece

just curious, are the kyb mounts different or better than any others?
Looks like I'm going to have to save up for the Gravana coilover setup. You can get pillow-ball upper mounts with those.

my car sound s like theres a bowling ball in the truck when i hit the brakes semi hard so is thta the mounts bad? i just did rear brakes on it and pulled the drums back of to see if it could be the brakes making the noise but they are fine. Only thing i can figure is thta the bearings might have came apart more while the car was up on the lift?
My car is a 2000 and i never had to replace my mounts until I put brand new Tokico HP struts on my car. I had these struts for about 3 months now and I had replaces my mounts 3 times on the driver side and twice on the passenger side. I don't get it?!?!?!
