lowered car and lots of weight in the back, Sag?
Monday, June 18, 2007 1:21 AM
I am trying to decide on lowering my car or not.
I love the look and the performance would be a plus, but my only question would be what will happen when I put lots of weight onto the rear end?
will the rear sag even more (I know it will a little), but will it make it really bad?
I still need my car for long trips and a load of stuff in the back, with all the stuff it will usually sag about one inch maybe two.
I am looking at the eibach pro springs with either Koni Yellows or the tokico D-specs. bags are a little too much to do.

Any views and experiences?

Thanks steve

eibach pro what? prokit or prosport? there is a different in the 2. either way you could used either spring with the yellows or dspecs. i dont think you will have a problem with sagging

The usual sort of sagging that people are concerned about -- the kind where the spring remains compressed and your regular ride height is reduced -- shouldn't be an issue with Eibach springs of any kind. I don't think there is any risk of damaging anything by doing this either, provided the load is within reason. I do think that you will be in for a rough ride while you're carrying a lot of cargo, though. Since lowering springs keep the car closer to the "bottom out" threshold, adding weight will put you even closer, and the ride will suffer.

you will be fine. just stay away from cheap spring brands and kits the lower the rear more then the front.

Alternative: Ball hitch and trailer. As long as you keep the tongue weight down, you should be able to skirt around the whole issue.

wheels and tires are light, prob about 150lbs or so(Guessing), not a prob with mine either, I think I put a little too much in sometimes, going to see how heavy, I think I put about 400-450 in, might be kinda heavy so that could be part of the trouble, just took out about 70 lbs of tools from my trunk the other day, all in bags as all, but I needed it the next day, pulled exhaust out of a old civic with a friend, and I really could have used some of the tools, funny looking car though, hulk green, with a really ugly body kit, this thing woudl really glow in the dark I think, I want to make a spoiler out of hockey sticks for it and take pics, mayabe a nice aluminum siding body kit too, it would look sooooo sweeeeeet!, hahahaha
