91 cav stock 2.2
I just changed front pads as one started "squeeking' .Passenger was 50%, but not real bad. Drivers outboard was down to GONE ,inboard had about 25%.
what is causing the erratic wear? any suggestions? It seems that if caliper was "hanging up ,the inboard pad would have been pretty bad also.
Improper lubrication of the slider pins. In other words, you need to lube the bolts that bolt the caliper to the knuckle.

chances are they are rusted up behind the bushing and lubing the slider won't do much, remove the bushing and buy replacement bushings and sliders and using a wire brush on a drill clean out the bore the rubber bushing and slider go and intall new bushings and lube them up good, or just buy reman calipers, less labour but a bit more cost
Just replace the caliper, not worth the bushings because they're like 15 bucks CDN, a whole Caliper is only worth around 28 CDN for a reman. Well thats how much they cost me anyways, lol.
There will always be someone faster than you, but thousands slower and dumber than you.
I'd do the calipers as well; brake components for J-cars are obscenely cheap. Under $50 would net you calipers, pads, slides, fluid and a wire brush. Toss in another $30 for rotors and hoses for good measure, and you'd never have to think about front brakes again....or until the rotors warp....which will be soon.
Oh, and +1 for the cause of the problem: stuck caliper slides.

And then just get rid of perfectly good parts? I would only replace them under two conditions:
1: If the parts were excessively worn or bad.
2: If I was doing a full rebuild on the front end.
Other than that, why spend more money than you have to if the problem is an easy fix? The proper slider pin grease shouldn't cost more than $5 I would guess.

well, its done, I cleaned the caliper bores ans sisicone greased the pins...should be fixed till next brake change...THANKS ALL !
