thinking of painting my calipers.

I was thinking of painting the calipers a sport blue like the interior of the car. I watched my brother paint his red, and he ran into a lot of trouble with his brakes. He took the caliper off the car, of course, and when he hooked the brake lines back up he had to bleed them like crazy. If i were to take the brake calipers off of a 2003 chevy cavalier ls sport 2.2L ecotec what all troubles could i run into with bleeding the brakes etc.? Also, is the winter hard on the caliper paint jobs? I dont wanna do all the work and have to redo it again next year? It gets .. bad .. i guess around here, nothing to severe but we have our storms. I know salt is hard on rims so is it hard on the caliper paint too?

If you remove the calipers I think the worst that can happen is that you would have to bleed your brakes. Before I removed my calipers I got vise grips pliers to clamp the hoses so I don't have to bleed as much.

My outcome:

I've done mine twice so far with Duplicolor brush-on paint. If you get a year out of the paint, I'd think you were doing well. Winter most definitely would be rough, and in my case, it doesn't help that I'm already fighting rust at the same time.

I didn't even take mine off.
I just used varsol to clean the stuff off of it, taped everything up completely, and sprayed away.
As Geeky said... You get a year outta it Daily Driving, and you'll be doing good.
I used Duplicolour, and mine is already showing some chips

if you paint them, please paint them black. imo it looks tacky painting stock brakes the color of the car.

as far as removing the caliper, yes you would have to bleed the brakes since you removed a brake line.

I painted mine green...
I have to agree though, going the same colour as your car is
