Recommended Struts.

Hey Everyone,
I am sure this has been answered before but I could not find anything on the search when I looked for it (I am partially blonde though so that could explain it).

I plan on doing a Intrax 1.7” lowering kit on my car and I was wondering if anybody knew what struts I should get with this set up. Since I will have it apart to put the lowering springs on I want to do everything, and do everything correctly while I am there. I looked on the Intrax website and could not find any factory recommendations. Oh, and just for the record, the reason I decided on Intrax is because I will admit that 96% of my driving is around town and lowering it would be mainly for looks, and Intrax is the only company that advocates maintaining a nice ride. If you have any other suggestions, I am open to them though.

In addition, to those of you who have lowered your car, did you need to install a camber kit to the get the wheels back into alignment or did they maintain relatively unaffected?

I recommend Eibach Pro Kit and KYB AGX's....You'll be lower and still have a nice ride....

No you dont need a camber kit.....

Hey i have intrax springs on my Cavalier and I love them. Mach some KYBs with them and you'll be set.

You will lose your warranty on your AGX's if your using Intrax springs, But ya you probably will be fine.....

I'm sure a lot of the stuff we do voiods the warranty. I'm rollin low with Sportlines and AGX's, but it's low and too rough I think.

I wanna move to either the Pro Kit or H&R's... I want a progressive rate spring.

its not your springs its your struts. get struts that can handle what you have

I'd rather pay $250 for springs that don't drop as much as opposed to $580 for struts that can handle the springs.

the reason why it rides rough now is more than likely because the struts are done. getting springs isnt going to help anything.

yea for struts that are only really good for 1.5" drop, lowering 2.3" is alot more than what it can take. its like lowering on stock struts.

Well they don't feel blown out yet (no bouncing) but just rough since I put them on like it's too low. I'll probably set it up for stock suspension for winter until I can sell off the sportlines and save the stress on the AGX's

Beaver adjust your AGXs to a softer ride. There cheap adjustables, but they last, About threee months ago I swapped in a sportline kit into a EK civic and his car is fine and rides nice. We put in Tien springs and AGXs on an accord the other day and the ride is fine we just turned the adjustment knob to a softer setting.

Sure the AGX is listed as a "stock" replacement but I've never heard of an adjustable stock shock. The main reason most people don't go with the AGX is because the are afraid to ruin the warranty, personally I could care less. One of the main reasons people go with D-spec and Yellow's is there range of adjustabilty and the ease of it, they have so many different settings.

DOn't getr me wrong though I have D-specs myself and love them but I also autocross and needed the adjustabilty. But bang for your buck the AGXs are a cheap fix until funds get in order.

^^ do not compare another cars supension to ours. what works for one car may not work for another. bottom line is those struts will not handle those springs. bottom line

Bottom line I've used them and they worked fine. I love my D-specs but the AGXs are fine they shouldn't be underestimated have you used them?
