I am thinking about buying the easy street kit but I really like a set up I saw on here with the bags in the rear. He was talking about wellding a shock braket for the rear and I was thinking couldnt you just remove the spring orm the strut and put the strut back on? Im thinking about trying this. The same goes for the front you could weld in an upper bag bracket to the "frame" and weld a circle plate to the lower control arm, rmove the spring and keep the strut so that it will act as a shock and upper control arm. Let me know what you think cause I think I may try this.
its been done before look up ESB thats the first person to do the rear bag setup youve probably seen it just restricts the drop just like the easystreet the strut bottoms out before the bag
like he said for the rear the stock strut would limit the drop. the reason i am going to weld new shocks in is so i can go as low as i want and then weld the shocks in. as for you front idea it wont work because there is a axle in the way, hence why that hasnt been done since thats how it is on a truck or any rwd vehicle
i have an idea for the front just need to get a couple re7 and super pivots
Yea my bad, I forgot about the axle. I have to come up with a bag set up for the front just to be different, and get even lower. I was thnkig that would happen with the struts though but I had not had a chance to see what kind off lift or drop u could get before the shocks bottom out. If you have ne ideas fora bag setup on the front let me know. I thought of building a tubular upper control arm from scratch and making that work but it would be really haed plus doing an alignment would be tricky. I dont understandthe body drop thing on a unibody do you cut the strut towers and move them up or shorten the struts or what?
i will let you know how well my idea works out when its done and i post the pics up
Only other problem with the front is that the front struts turn.
So you'd need to mount a stock strut mount to a metal bag bracket. This way you don't tare the bag.
But then you could just run some steel tubing up front where the factory strut cartraige goes, weld a bag cup/plate to the top, instert bag. Bolt to oem style strut mount.

haha this thread is funny
no one wants to give up secrets! Should be good tho.
...my shaved and tubbed 4 door will be doon soon too fellas

good luck with that it will screw your caster all up

only other problem i see with this cuz i have thought about it and the bottom side of the bag would just slide around meaning your camber would just flop around. would work how i see it

it would screw up your whole alignment caster camber toe all that but i think i have found a way to fix them and do what was stated above
Do s10 control arms and rwd swap? Lol
You could just shorten the strut, but you would need to fab up shocks.
Ah hell. You panzies just need to tub your fronts and raise your strut towers up about 1.5 inches.
Uni-drop ftw!

ive already cut out the front so i dont rub. but i have a plan for a rear, somewhat like my friend has on his s10 he gets 17 inches of lift in the rear. im tryin not to give all my secrets away till i have a chance to try them out lol
just do a 6 link like a suicidedoors/thorebeck brothers link kit.
There lift bars allow for 12" of lift, and depending on your bag, a extra few inchs.

re all around and i got a plan for the rear
You got a plan and I got a toaster.
This post was brought to you by my boredom. I am currently uber bored at work and just browsing the net on the blackberry.

lift bars dont give you crap for lift oin the rear because ofh ow short the forwartd bars are
Im just bought all 4 easy street struts off of ebay. thats what imado for no until I can think of a way o get lower in the front. alo if you cut out he inner fenders in the front ill the car be to weak since its a unibody?

thats why you weld new metal in when you cut the old stuff out to keep some of the rigidity
Do you have an pictures of how you did yours? Also on easystreet struts how much lower do you get if you tube the front and the back? Would you get any lower if you moved the lower strut mount further up the strut? Also, have you ever seen a sunfire with the explosion body kit bagged? I plan on getting it and I wonder how the skirts and front bumper will do as far as sitting on the ground.
you dont need to tub the front on just easystreet struts
worse case just cut out your pinch welds on front. Tub the rear.
