I think I blew my sensor for the turn signal and brake lights.... do you know where the sensor is in a 97 cavalier?

Have you checked this fuse?

Good chance you need a new combination switch (the arm that you push up and down for turn signals). It's a common issue. Kind of odd that it's somehow tied to the brake lights, but it is.

I would definitely check everything else you can first, but that's probably the culprit. Depending on your options (cruise), it could be as high as $100 for the part. Easy install, so don't go paying a mechanic $300 for the job.

Yep, checked all the fuses. I tried to install fog lights in the front by cutting into the front turn signals. Well when I did, I had to connect the blinker wire and ground wire together so that the green turn signal arrows wouldn't light up on the dash. Stupid me, I should have thought that they would have blown a fuse since you don't connect positive to negative. Well, when I went to use my turn signals later that day, my ABS light blinked on and the turn signals didn't work. I shorted something out. Checked all fuses and I went to Auto Zone and they told me to put in a new sensor. They said it was under the dash, by the steering wheel. Well it's not there.....

I would say... first off... undo the wiring you did, because that's just... um... wrong. Then tell us what the problem is, and we can try and help ya

I undid the wiring and put it back to the way it was. The lights don't work, nor to the flashers. I think I blew the flash: fuse, bulb, or sensor

check all your fuses in you fuse box.. with a light.. it is easier to shine a light on them and then look at them instead of pulling them all out.. This happened to me.. i had no blinkers or hazard lights and i did the same thing u did well kind of.. i was poking some wires with a power light? (think they are called that) and when i poked the wires, i also his the car body and it shorted out and blew a fuse.. i forgot which it was but check the hazard and the blinker light fuses for sure. I just replaced it and i was good to go
