Spring Rates...?

Does anyone know what the spring rates for the stock springs are on 3rd gen Js, especially versus lowering springs?

Funny, it's not easy to find spring rates on things. I've actually recieved answers from manufacturers of "XX% higher than stock" rather than an exact rate. Drives me nuts.

IIRC, the factory springs are around 250, but I'm not 100% sure. I know that my Sprint springs are somewhere around 400, and most coilovers are in that range as well. Most lowering springs are somewhere in the 300's. Hope this helps you.

I know Tein lists their rates. Their H-Techs are 170lbs/in front and 100 lbs/in rear (these are supposed to be just slightly higher than stock), the S-Techs are 180 front and 110 rear. The Basics and the Super Streets use 340 front and 220 rear coil-overs.

That's interesting. I'd have sworn our cars were over 200 stock, but perhaps I'm mixing up my vehicles (I've had plenty, so I'm probably thinking of one of my trucks). I'm going to see what info I can find on this now. It's got me thinking.

That sounds about right. 2nd gen stock rates are right around 100lbs/in. The 3rd gen GC off-the-shelf setup is 350lbs front IIRC (I never had the rear).

im in a journey to find ground control spring rate for 3rd gen. so it looks like the front is regularly 350 lbs.
does anybody know what spring rate is for the rears? im guessing 220 lbs. like tein s.s.

and please please what DIAMETER and HEIGHT.

IIRC the stock springs are not linear, they are progressive. If this is the case the rate is not as simple as just a number. It will be a function.

Stock springs, and most lowering spring kits (not coilovers) are progressive. However, the first few coils are usually already in bind when the suspension is at static ride height, so they usually rate the springs by what they are at under these circumstances. This makes a comparison still possible without a crapload of calculations.
