I have a 96 2.2 cavalier and am thinkin about putting lowering springs on it and i was wondering if i put 1.75" to 2" in lowering springs on it will i have enough travel on my stock struts?
so your saying i have to get new struts to?
you will need new struts. your stock struts will not handle any sort of drop. they will blow and become a safety hazard. since you want to go that low, you'll need either koni yellows or tokico d-specs
thanks man your a big help
I will second BLWN L61's comment. I know first hand
(struts are on my to purchase list)
I just meet a guy tonight or should i say dis moring that lowered his cavie on stock struts with them coilover kit that you can get off ebay.com and he said that its really rough butt he has no problem driving with it even on rough roads.
Thanks once again I'm going to wyotech this coming may and i don't like to do things half ass and i always ask if i dont know about something that way i do it the right way the first time.
Can kyb gr2's handle the drop ?
Don't buy cheap ebay coilovers, there cheap for a reason!
(99 - Sunfire - Red - 2200)(95 - Cavalier z24 - Purple - 2.3 quad four)
please read the faqs at the top. it lists all the struts that fit our cars and what they are capable of handling
yeah dude, go right ahead!! Dropping your car on stock struts with ebay bomz is the best way! much better control, safety, and pleasure of knowing you look cool!!!!!
I'm back from the dead.
Currently Driving: RSX Type-S.

You can put lowering springs on a stock struts.
You going to have a VERY @!#$ty ride, and bumps are going toss you
and your passengers all over the place too, along with NO travel in the struts. I know they will eventually blow as most
people on this forum say but, I have yet to meet any J body owner who has told me there stock struts are blown from there lowering springs. A buddy of mine has 2 cavaliers each with 2 inch drops and have been on there for almost 2 years still not blown. I've had the prokit (1.4inch) for about 3 months and the roads very rough out here, and they haven't blown yet. I wouldn't buy anything from ebay either check out gravanatuning.com and turbotechracing.com and if you got the money I'd
highly recommend buying after market struts from the get go save yourself the time, money, hassle and enjoy the quality of the ride on a lowered car.
i had a 2003 cavalier with eibach and stock struts.. big mistake.. might had been the culprit for my stock exhuast manifold breaking where it meets the stock downpipe or so called. DONT DO IT !
