looking to lower my car, need help/advice/info

I have a 91 sunbird convertible, and Im looking to lower it, I wanted to know how much this would cost, and/or how hard is it. Ive also heard a rumor that convertible springs are different than that coupe/sedan springs? only reason I say that is because thats all Ive seen for sale, if anyone has websites to post where I can buy them that would help

Springs for the coupe will fit fine but I think the convertable is lighter so you might not get the drop you are looking for.

vert's weigh MORE then coupe's. just because they dont have a steel roof dont assume they are lighter. the factory adds quite a bit of bracing to the car to keep it safe and make sure it doesn't cave in on itself. this stuff actually makes it heavier.

My bad. So they will work, the car might just sit a little lower. The weight difference is prob only a couple hundred pounds. Its like having a pasenger.

Check out the Suspension FAQ on V6Z24.com. It has links for all the direct fit springs available. As far as cost, that all depends on where you buy them, shipping cost, etc. If you have it done by a shop, figure a couple hundred in labor costs, plus an alignment. Its simple enough to do yourself, then just have the alignment done and save some cash.

2nd gen front springs are available with 2 different part numbers (sport and standard suspension), whereas rears are the same number for all levels, and when ordered, you need to specify FE1, FE2 or FE3. You aren't going to see much difference between factory springs though (ride height and rate), so its not worth it to swap them out of an FE3 car into an FE1 car, when brand new aftermarket springs are typically around $200. If you have an SE, you most likely have the FE3 anyways, so theres nothing better from the factory. The V6 'vert weighs just about 100lbs more than the V6 coupe.
