Addco Sway Bars

Anyone else's rear Addco Sway bar hang insanely low? I'm lowered, and it sits probably 1.5-2 inches from the ground. Just wondering if its a common thing for these bars.

nah mine is pretty in line with the twist beam...how far dropped are you?

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

Addco rear bar with Sportlines:

It's definitely visible from the rear of the car, since the stock rear bumper (without Z-24 trim) doesn't hide much. I wouldn't say it's too close the ground.

1)If you have the older style where you had to drill.
And you installed the D bushings like pictured above,
Then yes, it will hang low. and is installed incorrectly

2) If you have the older style where you drill holes.
And you have the D bushings facing up, tucked under the axle.
Then you're in good shape and the bar is installed correctly.

3) If you have the new designed bar,
Bolted to the rear shocks and the D bushings facing down (like above)
Then its installed correctly

4)If you have the new style bar
Bolted to the rear shocks D bushings facing up.
Then you can not even have the bar installed, and is incorrect

Hope that helps

I bought the bar used, but needed new endlinks and such, how would I know if I had to drill. Like which part of the bar needed to be drilled out?

Not drilling on the bar.

If it was the older bar, you would have to drill a 3/8" hole right behind the rear shock bolt area.
There is a small space where it would go.
More info on the older style here: Team Foward Motion

You should be able to get the endlinks from a Pepboys, or Autozone made by Energy suspension.
Try to get the 1" length versions. I know a lot of the store may just carry the 1 5/8" versions.

Or...

Pick up just the set of bushings, and go to a hardware shop and buy 2 grade 8 3/8" bolts and lock nuts.
Ideally 5 1/2" bolts, but you may only fine 5" or 6" bolts.
Then buy a couple of the 1" metal sleeves and you're good to go.

Nice. I got the kit for them last time from Never Enough Auto, so I'll look into the rear bushing kits around here. There aren't many shops in my area, so I might just have to get them from NEA again.

You can pick up Energy Suspension endlinks from Autozone that will work perfectly.

Have to have something similiar.

So I found the instructions that came with my bar today. Its a used bar, came with no endlinks, so...turns out that its the old style, that needs to be drilled to mount. @!#$ty. Old bar and new link system.....

I was a little worried at first, but it was just road grime and salt. I've had that bar installed for a couple more seasons since that picture, and the powdercoat is still good.

My addco sits low too, but im just more worried about making my car handle well, than hitting road debris.
Below is a k member brace that I am in the middle of making, and a rear seat support bar!
Let me know what you think!

HERE IS MY FRONT K MEMBER! IT SITS LOWER THAN MY SWAY BAR.

^Damn I really like that! You going to make more of those? I have a ton of other things to buy like the new project, but interested on what you would charge.

Re: Addco Sway Bars

I would charge around 130, this is only an estimate. All holes would have to be drilled to match! That would include the 1" x 3" stainless main bar with brackets welded on, all grade 8 hardware, 4 heim joints, and 2 aluminum radius rods! THIS BAR SITS LOW!

TRD have you seen my rear tie bar setup? I just sold one to a guy on here, maybe he will post about it! Here is the pic of it!

Ya, I'm the guy who just bought it, I haven't seen it yet as my buddy picked it up for me, Will be getting it from him on Friday and hopefully installed on the weekend.

BTW - Thanks again Phil...
