Today I went to go get a quote for my local shop to see how much it would cost me to lower my car. I have a few options that the guy suggested.
option #1 $410 to lower the car, this comes with a lifetime warranty and free alignment.
option #2 $978 to lower the car with new shocks and struts and free alignment and lifetime warranty
option #3 I asked the guy about coil overs, he said that they aren't the best thing to have where i live because of all the road grime and stuff like that will mess the coil overs up. so it seemed he didn't really want to install then.
anyway I have another option, my friend has lowered his Maxima and has offered to help me lower my car. I know that it would be alot cheaper.
This is what im planning to buy
TEIN S.TECH Spring (I'm not sure if it will work on a 4 door I'm gonna find this out)
And i need to find a good of shocks and struts......any suggestions?
Im planning to spend less that $1000 on lowering my car .
You can get the s.techs for around 170 dollars, and yes they will work on a four door. Get a set of kyb agx's for 350+shipping off ebay. Puts you at a grand total of less then 600 dollars. You should get new strut mounts aswell because having to change them out after a month and paying for another alignment is a possiblity if the ones you have are already going bad. Make sure you get an alignment after you install them. That should be the only thing you will have to get a shop to do if your friend has experience with doing this. Saving you a lot of money!
^^ agxs will not work. it will void their warranty. whats the point in spendin the money and not get the warranty. agxs are warrantied up to a 1.5" drop. if you want the s tech you should get dspecs. agxs will more than likey work im just saying if they ever blow, you cant send them in to get new replacements and you'll be stuck spending another 350 plus another 70 to get your car aligned.
do the work yourself its very easy. as far as the coilover comment, that shop has no clue what their talking about. yes debris will get on the coil sleeve. that will happen to anyone anywhere they live.
Tokico makes the D spec shock and struts rite and do u you know how much it will cost me.
and where would i get new strut mounts and do i need to do anything with the rear mounts?
thanks for the info it really helps
