I have been experiencing squeaks from my stock 2000 Z24 suspension. I think its the front upper mounts that are going bad.
In the spirit of solving this problem I am thinking about getting the TEIN SS which seems to be a great product, and comes with four new mounts. Before I drop the cash for the TEIN I was hoping to get a few questions answered:
0. Is TEIN SS a drop in replacement for the stock suspension w/o any surprises?
1. What should it cost to have a professional shop install the setup front/back.
2. Will I need an alignment?
3. Will I need to install a chamber kit or anything that is not part of the TEIN SS package?
4. What is a reliable place to purchase TEIN SS for a decent price.
Thanks All.

-Yes sir, unless you're car has issues before hand.
1. What should it cost to have a professional shop install the setup front/back.
-Zero, you can do it. Extra set of hands prefered.
2. Will I need an alignment?
-You should....its a general suspension rule. At least balance out the wheels or something.
3. Will I need to install a chamber kit or anything that is not part of the TEIN SS package?
-Camber adjustment is part of the 'pillow ball' portion of the mount.
4. What is a reliable place to purchase TEIN SS for a decent price.
-any j-body shop around here. Should run you about $1250 +/- shipped

just to add to what mastin said
0 - yes it is a direct replacement that just bolts in. only issues you may have is if you are running aftermarket wheels, it maybe rub on the suspension. its been a common problem that people have noticed. 9 times out of 10 it doesnt rub but your tire will be close to the suspension. if its not touching then theres no worry about driving on anything as it will never touch.
1 - like mastin said you can do it yourself. since its a direct replacement, all you need to do is unbolt your stock stuff and pull it out then bolt in the teins. very simple work if you can turn a wrench or do oil changes. if you need info on removing the struts you can pm me id be more than willing to walk you through it
2 - yes an alignment is needed. wait a week after you install it then take it to a shop and have it aligned. any time you remove any major suspension parts like struts you will need to get the car re-aligned.
3 - no camber kits are not require for our cars and like mastin said, the pillow ball mounts allow you to adjust the camber from there if need be.
4 - jason at aplusperformance or chad at gravanatuning.com
^^
What Mike said,
I jsut gave the short version.

Thanks for the info. I just got a quote for a $200 install from a local performance auto shop.
I will be posting my review of the TIEN.
Yeah, the price increase does kinda suck. I just received mine about 3 weeks ago from gravana, and he said he had a few more left in stock.
Install was super easy, you will need to reuse your stock nuts and bolts, but other than that the Tein kit comes with everything. My car sits about 1/2" lower then it did with the old springs(suspension techniques), and it's got no engine in it.
I do have 1 question for anyone else who has installed these, on the box it says to torque the top mount nut down. Does anyone know a good way to keep the strut rod from turning while torquing down?
The only thing extra you need is two more front strut tower mounting nuts.
^^ dang.
At that price I will have to reconcider the friggin KWs

The Ties SS are $1460 the install is $200 ... not cheap by any means
install it yourself. its not hard at all. yes the suspension is expensive but its the best suspension out there. well worth the money.
I'd order from Gravana, I've ordered from them a couple of times, and each time the part got to my door very quickly. Not to mention the tech support, second to none, imo.
Caution: I have an odd sense of humor, so don't be offended by the things I say

1. Dunno did it myself in 4 hours with no help j-body suspension is about as easy as it gets
2. yes
3. No
4. i think i got mine from aplus performance i honestly cant remember
1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
its a really easy straight forward install, no need to compress struts or springs.
FRONT:
3 nuts off the top, 2 bolts off the knuckle, pull the unit as a whole.
Rear:
3 nuts off the top, 1 bolt on the trailing arm
I always lift the car at all 4 corners when doing suspension. makes everything easier.

wow 1500$ now?!?! glad i got mine for 700$ shipped to my door
chad your the best lol.
and they are super easy to put in, i never took a suspension apart before, took me and a friend less than an hour and a half to change all 4 and put the car back on the ground.
plus the ride is amazing. now i need someone to cut me a supersweet deal on EDFC lol

Got to disagree with you there, as far as hondas, 240s, and group of others go, Koni yellows and eibachs(sportlines, prokit, ground control coilovers) are the way to go.
Are they good yes, that good no. They do have pillowball mounts, but read my post about them!!!
As for OP.... this may be the way you want to go(do to the pain in the ass install of the koni set-up.)
I had the Koni system, and it was nerve wraking, knowing that if you screw up cutting the struts, you have to go to the dealer for new ones. I won't be doing that again.
I miss my Sunfire, I want it back!

You will be missed.
I tend to agree for the J-Bodys tho, this is the, if not one of the best J-Body performance Suspension.
I got mine for $400.00 + 4 hours of driving, got really lucky

Yea I am bringing this back from the dead. I am looking into these and have another question. Since looking at these and the gp for solid mounts do the rear teins have pillow ball mounts on them? If not I will go with the pillow ball when i get my rear solid mounts.
The proper way of using the word seen. It is not I seen it that would be I saw it. He has seen the car is the right way to use the word. English class is Cool. By the way thats my sig

wow your right. for a second i thought this was strictly a jbody site where parts were going onto a jbody. my fault.
as far as the rears go, yes they have the pillow ball mounts also.

Cool thanks for getting on this glad to know the deal. I thought I read that there was some need of modding or fabbing in the mount but I guess I read wrong.
