OK, first off, I want to make it clear that I am removing my body kit. So when I say this I don't mean sideskirt. I actually physically mean rocker. I know I will have to route the exhaust somewhere in front of the rear end. Little things like that I can deal with. I just want to know if anyone has a 95 up that lays rocker panel. If so, aside from air ride, what all was involved in making it work. I plan on running 18s with a 225 35 tire. I need to know things like whether the rear strut towers will need to be raised and whether I need to tub anything out.
If it can't drag, it ain't low enough!
yeah, body drop it, and youll probably have to go to a custom mounted shock in the rear with a bag on the axle.
Well aside from a custom mounted shock in the rear with a bag behind the axle like stated above. You will need to tub the rear like a few have done already but then your stuck with cutting off the pinch weld. My pinch weld is about an inch off the ground now and the actually rocker panel itself is no where near the ground. The front will need a customs set up with a lot, and i mean a lot of cutting.
tube the rear and extend the rear axle arms. also id run a bag setup like a mini truck in the rear to get the rear down. yellow22 has a bag setup an tube work to drag the rear end.
Well, I got to thinking about it in the rear and realized that the setup I had hoped to use would probably make sense here. Did anyone see the show Trick It Out on MTV? There was an episode where they cantilevered a Honda Civic hatch. I have been wanting to do this do a Cavy and I think this would present itself as a great opportunity. I am getting ready to get the back half of the frame on my truck redone. Once I do that, this project may be on. And btw, the pic showing the rocker rolling inward and toward the ground is what I had in mind as far as laying. I think I can make up that half inch with a set of 95-99 Z24 rockers. BTW, is that blue Cavy on StreetSource the blue one that has Caddys and a body kit and is now in AcrophobiA?

How the hell do you channel(body drop) a unibody car?
I miss my Sunfire, I want it back!
MMMM, HIDs
You will be missed.
you could always try a tradional bd, cutting the center of the car from the body
You build a full frame like the blue one lol

wish i would have seen this sooner. but if you have to ask you most likely dont have the skills to do it yourself. making a cavi lay rocker is nothing like slaming a dime. and i have helped with 2 bd s10s now and the cavi is still way more of a challenge
As stated above if it were as easy to get a cavi on the ground as an s10 wouldnt we all be laying body? Make yourself a full frame with control arms up front and convert to rear wheel drive...if you can pull that off youll be able to toss a shell on there and lay rocker if not higher, but until then...I wouldnt try if you have to ask
raise your k member and motor make custom air struts up front. put a fuel cell in and a simple bag off the axle setup out back you can get on the pinch. i wouldnt sugest dragging through your pinch unless you do a frame underneath or you will lose all yuor structural support.
I just didn't think it was physicaly possible to body drop a unibody, I never said I wanted to do it, I'm into racing, not laying my car out.

To FULLY Lay you will need to Chop the Front Clip off of the car off and go with a Tube Frame.
Why?
Take a Straight Edge across your wheel Well and Match it up with your rocker. You get (if i remember right) Right at 23.25" From the rocker to the Top of the fender. The OD of an 18" with a 35 tire is 22.5" So you will only have 3/4" between the tire and fender.
This is what I was doing with my sunfire before I abandoned it.
In the rear You will need a Custom Rear Suspension setup and a BIG tub.
Good Luck!
