no. the stock struts are not rated for ANY drop.

no, i wouldnt recommend it... and thats coming from a guy that did the exact same thing for the same reason. im lowered 1.6" or so and at first it was fine, but now i cant stand the way my car rides.... every single bump. although its hard, save up the money and get shocks that will support the 2" you want (Dspecs). check out this link, fellow jbo member selling some used dpecs and yellow (although the yellows front shocks are getting rebuilt currently...)
shocks for sale
good luck!
it is possible to put them on stock springs however it is not a very smart idea. especially with a 2" drop, they will wear out very quickly.
pro-kit is the only drop stock can handle imho.

no, do it right, or dont do it at all
READ THE STICKY/FAQ ABOVE!
Stock struts + drop = poofed struts
(hell, stock struts + 75k miles = poofed struts too)
Save the cash and do it right the first time. That means no generic ebay coilovers (name-brand is alright I guess) and no generic ebay struts or oem replacements if you want to go lower.
KYB Gas-Adjust and KYB GR2 are STOCK REPLACEMENTS
KYB AGX can handle MILD drop (<1.8")
Koni can go as low as you want as long as you're not bottoming them out (~2" is about as low as recommended -- any more and you're screwing up your suspension geometry anyway).
~2" drop is going to cost you ~$600-$800 AT LEAST. Double those figures if you want coilovers. ($600 mark is if you catch sales or buy used quality stuff) .

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
Stock struts with stock springs SUCK!!!! so do not use any lowering spring on stock strut.
FU Tuning
why do people try sooooo hard to keep their stock struts? they are TERRIBLE, ou r cars would be better off using hatch lift supports for shocks than our stock setups. not to mention, once the stocks DO blow (and they will, or already are), the amount of time it takes to replace them again, coupled with the cost of another alignment, is well worth doing it right the first time.

i say go for it.
I have used the eibach pro kit on both my cavs with stock struts then GR-2s. ride is pretty decent.
It is bouncey, but you will get used to it.
It isnt like you put on the lowering springs, and then hit your first bump and the struts blow up.
But yes, ideally, save up for some good struts in the mean time. Kyb's are a good brand.
Koni- i rode in cars with them and wasnt that impressed, even the rare Bilstien coil over set up from mantapart back in the day. I dont like the idea of hacking up a stock strut to make koni's work for the price you have to pay Versus a KYB direct replacement.
good luck non the less.
i had stock replacement struts ( monroe sensatracs), and they were ok with the prokit for a few months..... after that, every pothole and bump I went over I was bottoming out and hurting myself and my car...lol...it sucks bigtime i hate the noise just thinking of it! i got the AGX's now and there a million times better...and direct replacements, no modifying needs to be done to install them...
and search button is ur friend! but you already knew that!

they kybs you bought were just barely better then stock and you driving around on a bouncy suspension is very unsafe. bouncy does not equal good
I ran the 1.2" Suspension Techniques springs on stockers for over a year and never blew them. When I tried to go down to a Pro Kit, they popped pretty soon thereafter. Get good struts and enjoy your tighter suspension. Follow that with front and rear strut bars, and you are set!
Keep in mind, to swap struts on the J cars, is a SIMPLE procedure. In fact, when I still had my J, I could do it in less than 80 minutes on all four corners using a floor jack. Changing springs, with lowering springs on first, is even easier.
thanks to every one who has posted on here i found out that i can get a pro kit with agxs and be fine i could also get the soprt line springs and run agx struts and get a good dear through advanced auto parts and auto zone

BAHAHAHAHAAHAAAHAAHAHA
you must have rode in the cars that had in koni's set to FULL STIFF then because my yellows on sportlines is like heaven on earth compared to stock struts with lowering springs/coilovers.
ask john higgins how well those old school bilsteins ride... ive heard the ride is BETTER then stock from him in the past and i currently have zero reasons not to trust every single word that comes out of his mouth for the exact truth and nothing BUT the truth.
crying about the koni's needing the stock struts cut up to work is like crying over spilled milk. so you need to do a little work in order to have a world class performance suspension setup WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY. give me a break. go back to your elementary school modding and leave the real mods to the big boys.
Are you scared of the changes coming? The answer is on the inside.
