Will a mild drop be ok?
Friday, December 19, 2008 1:02 AM
Hey guys, have a quick question about possible fitment issues. I would like to put Pro-Kits with KYB AGX's (1.4 in drop) on my Sunfire, nothing crazy. The only thing I am worried about it the tire rubbing. The tire size I have is 215-60-15 and it is relatively wide compared to stock.

I know it will fit fine in the rear (that's what she said?) but I'm not too sure on the front. I have seen hardly anyone with this size tire on here
and I'm just not sure how it will fit, so I figured it would be better to ask.

Here is a shot of the front drivers side wheel. Sorry for the small crappy dirty picture, I don't wanna post photos of my whole car car until it is done

The roads around here aren't too bad and I know how be careful driving a lowered car.
But it is my daily driver, and if it ends up creating a lot of issues I might just say screw it.

If the answer to this is painfully obvious I apologize in advance, suspension is not my thing.

Thanks!

PS: It rides just fine with this tire size now

ding ding.
searching and you'd prob find your answer.
i had 225/40/18 on a pro-kit suspension. no problems. ever auto-x w/ it. tryin to remember what my stock ls chrome rims had on them.
end discussion.

Yea, I did search, thanks for that...
But if you read my post, I said not a lot of people had that size tire from what I've seen and I hardly found anything (WITH THE SEARCH BUTTON).
God, I'm usually the one telling people to use it...

But thank you for answering the question none the less.

The 225/40/18 is probably the most common choice for 18" tires on the J, and works with a minimum of fuss. I get minor rubbing on the front-left inside during a full-lock turn. Your 215's would be a touch narrower, and should have a very close overall diameter for comparison.

Thank you, that is good to know. I see you're on Sportlines too so that makes me pretty confident it will fit.

I ran 225/40/18 on an 8" wide wheel with 42mm offset on the prokit and AGX combo and had no problems. I wore away a fine layer of under coating on the inside during sharp turns and thats all... your good to go bro.

I had 225 50R 15s on the front for drag racing.

rubbing wasn't that bad.. I never noticed until I saw the paint on the inside of the fender wells missing.

and I was dropped about 2.5" in front, so I think you'll be fine.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sold on it now. After Christmas I'll be buying this setup.

Ok...that's what I said I'm going to use?
I was asking what 02rebadged was running because I didn't see any struts listed in his profile.
