I'm thinking about getting some lowering springs for the Sunfire. Any suggestions on which ones to get? Also, I know that a strut upgrade is recommended, but I'm not sure if I'm going to do it when I get the springs. How long will the stock struts last on lowering springs? I'll just replace them a lil while down the road if it's not a problem.

struts could crap out in 15 minutes 15 days or even a year for that matter, just save the money and do it all in one shot. Don't go cheap on your suspension.

If you want the best, go eibach. How long the struts last depends on the amount of drop. If you only go about 1.4" theyll be fine for a while.

eibach isn't necessarily the best, it all depends on what you're using the springs for. sometimes, like for autocross, coil-overs COULD be better if you're going for the weight distribution.
to the OP, what drop/look do you want, and/or are you going to be taking full advantage out of the suspension? if so, what is the main thing you want to look at doing, auto x, drag, or?
Just for looks, and just overall stiffer suspension is what I'm going for. There's no way I'd autoX of drag in my sunfire.

1.4 is good, for the Pro-kit I'm assuming, and they're, from what I'm told, great handling springs. but that also depends on what struts you go with also. currently, I'm on goldlines and *gasp* stock struts, and they're holding out ok, but they've started to get a bit of a bounce to them. it's been like that for 5 or 6 months now, but the car has been off for a total 2 months, off and on through the last 6 months.
I'll suggest Road Magnets also if you are looking for a pretty good drop. If you search around you can find some info on them or PM me if you want more details.

I bought mine when they were first released and we had a GP on here. Drop is about 2.2" so d-specs or yellows are a must. I went with d-specs because I didn't want to mess with the install hassle of drilling out for the yellows. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my decision. I've never ridden in a car with sportlines, but imo the road magnets ride very nice. Helped out the handling like crazy while giving a nice, daily-driving setup.

hmmm, that extra bit would make me very happy. . . as I said earlier, I'm just on the goldlines right now, but I would like to go lower especially in the front. . . .

if you dont want to upgrade the struts now, thats fine. its your call and your car. why waste the time and money twice to do the labor and get an alignment?
Exactly, but if thats what the person wants than so be it. I say we just quit telling anyone that they need upgraded struts.

I agree with the comments advising not to go cheap on your suspension and not to waste time and money duplicating work. I don't know what the spring/strut recommendations made above cost, but I bought this Tokico HP kit from this vendor (when it cost nearly $100 less than he's asking now)...

It claims a 1.4 drop and has a factory warranty. It installed fine and I have no problem recommending it (though I think it's a bit spendy now, without any other pricing to compare to).
I was told by someone that struts commonly blow when they don't have enough (or weren't designed to handle the) travel on compression to accommodate the drop. (Struts that consistently bottom out won't last and the bump stops are commonly cut on drop installations.) Although a 1.4 drop is considered mild, any more than that (at least where I live) leaves precious little clearance for common road inconsistancies like driveway humps and potholes, even though it might look great. Anyone contemplating a drop should read the Suspension FAQ sticky first thing.

I am lowered on Eibach Pro Kit's and the KYB AGX struts which give me a 1.4" drop.
I love how it handles, and I can't go any lower because of the end of my driveway ahahaha.
