Cavalier Master Cylinder Swap
Tuesday, March 03, 2009 9:01 AM
I am wanting to swap my Stock Master Cylinder out of my 96' Cavalier racecar with a Master Cylinder out of a 88-91 Beretta to eliminate the large ABS module that hangs from the 96 which i dont use. The problem i have is, I recieved the 88-91 and Im not quite sure which lines hook into which holes since Ill have to change all the threads on the break lines as well. Can anyone tell me which hole are for the left and right fron brakes, and which are for the left and right tear brakes? I would really appriciate it cause i cant find a diagram anywhere that gives me this info. Thanks!

Here is the picture of a 88-91 master cylinder like I am wanting to put in. It is several pounds lighter and takes up a lot less space then the one with abs.

Why dont you just put on adapters on your brake lines to get to -3AN and run SS lines into the master cylinder...obviously putting fittings in the master to -3AN aswell. Very easy to do. I can help you out getting the fittings if you need help.

Is what i had planned on doing.. is running aftermarket brakelines to the rear through the inside of the car. (I bought a brake line kit and am gonna install new brake line.. as my factory brake line got pretty messed up underneith the car last year). However, the front lines will stay the same, except Ill switch the fittings so that they work in the beretta master cylinder. However, before I do anything ive gotta find out which lines are which. That is why I was wanting to know. I wasnt sure if anyone here had a beretta or had done this swap and could possibly help me out. I will probably try and join the beretta forums though if I dont get anything from here.
