Friday, March 13, 2009 8:39 AM
was doing the girl friends 1999 sunfire front brakes (to put car on the road cause she just bought it) and the driver upper calipar bolt holes threads are gonzo??? ahhhhhh!!
bolt is ok and came out fine but when i went to bolt it back in by hand it just slid right in the hole so i looked and they were gone>

any suggestions will be appreciated.

will tapping it be ok i think if it did i'd have to find bigger bolt no?

also i need the front calipars as well as the spindel im guessing. front calipars are not retracting at all not even a budge so im guessing there seized.

im located in dunnville, ontario, Canada. anyone local with these items or a few good words lol.?

you can try and get a heliy coil kit and do it that way or u may have to get a new spindle. as for the calipers what are u using to push the piston back. i just put the old brake pad in frt of the piston and use some big channel lock pliers or a big c- clamp. some times it'll brake it free when is stuck.

Personally, I'd go with Helicoil, because it will give you better threads, but an oversized bolt and a tap will take care of it as well.

Helicoil would be my preference also as it's a stronger thread than the factory.
