I have a 2003 cavalier 5 speed and i am looking to get a set of front and rear strut bars. I just ordered some shock/struts to handle my drop and i am looking for a better feel. Anybody recommend any? I dont want to get anything fancy just something that bolts up and works. I keep seeing these 20 dollar bars on various websites. has anybody bought these? also will bars listed pre 2003 like 95-02 work on my car? Thanks
idk if you got to see when i popped my hood at the meet, but i got the set of bars
for like $60 shipped... bolted on fairly easy... they just add stability... the funny
things is i can't tell they are there, but i have people ride w/ me and tell me it feels
safer(more stable) so i say a bar is a bar.... for what u r looking at that bar will
do just that, make a small difference, probably more of a mental thing, then followed
by a visual thing(bars always look good[girls love it stiff]).... i say buy it and try it out
it's only the cost of a full tank of gas... hahahaha... finally i can make a joke!!!!
I highly recommend geting the GM front bar out of a z24 convertable. I like mine. eBay ones get the job done though.
Did I mention I drive a 2000 Lumina now?-----wigm-tuners.org member
lol i guess i will give it a shot...
i got mine off ebay for $13. i wanna get the gm vert bar but for now, the ebay strut bar does the job

Because they're about as stiff as a limp noodle, my ractive bars included. My homemade strut bar made out of 1/2" box tubing is stiffer than the ractive, but it got modified severely to be used as an engine support when I changed the clutch in my car.
MArk, you cant touch those numebrs because yours one made when ordered, and not mass produced. that one strut bar (minus the ends) is probably used for 20 other applications too. Your will ONLY fit in the rear of a Jbody...know what i mean?
Today i popped my hood to check my fuids and something caught my eye. Will the pwr sterring and ecm? pcm? brackets located on the passanger side prevent the nut to grab the strut bolts? Looks like those brackets are kinda thick then on top of that add the thickness from the strut bar mount...
^ The strut bar will fit just fine with the brackets there. The cruise control bracket will go on top of the strut bar end and the PCM bracket will go under the strut bar end.
Although, in all honesty I would suggest just re-locating both the cruise control and the PCM. It will look much better and you will have more than enough of the strut bolt for the nut to grab on to.
Also, I have the Vibrant front and rear strut bars and I have no complaints with them. They are very sturdy and add some nice bling to the engine and trunk. I got both of them for $100.00.
Carrie why does your trunk need bling???lol
It doesn't "need" bling per say, but at least at shows I can fold the backseat down and it looks nicer than an empty trunk
.
i have a pair of vibrant ones I got for $90 altogether. easy to put on, adjustable.
as for the reservoirs, I just zap strapped them to the holes onthe bar itself. I race mine, so it doesn't need to look pretty =p
or, talk to Overkill Engineering. They make good stuff,
The last thing u can get, front end only, is a K brace. They do very good as well =)
david let me know how the eBay one works out/feels.. am looking to get a strut bar and would prefer the gm conv. one but money is tight so..
It actually fit better than i thought! Only modification i had to do was dremmel out one of the holes on each of the strut bar brackets, took me like 2 min.The bar even has a slight indentation on the underside to sort of clear the ecm? pcm? felt slightly more stable. Hey for $20 its a good visual and a slight suspension upgrade. If they made a rear one i'd jump on it as well but they dont..
Lol! I had an extra Megan Racing sticker that i stuck on the bar.
