I got tein s tech's on the red car with yellow struts. They have roughly 15k on them and I would highly recomend them to anyone.
I also got Road magnets on the sliver car with Yellow struts, I've driven them for the last 13k this past year and they ride a little lowwer than the tein's but they feel better around turns.
Just my .02 I'm planning on ground control coils with O.E.M. camber plates for one of the j's soon I haven't decided.
Personally I think that the Tokico D-Specs are the best choice for struts, especially since you want to lower the car. The factory warranty covers the drop in case the shock/strut fails, and it has a great ride characteristic.
As far as drop goes, do NOT use dropzone springs! I have S-Techs on my ride (1.5" drop) but that may not be low enough for your tastes. I would recommend buying a PROGRESSIVE spring, regardless of what you end up choosing.
I would like a clear answer to the OPs question also. I am considering lowering mine. money is the issue
I use koni reds with ground controls. I have about a 3inch drop, and I can go another inch atleast if I had the balls. It handles amazingly and rides almost like stock.

Check the Classifieds, couple of good setups for under $400
ill sell you my ground controls for 20o
no shocks tho... 400 new on ebay
A freind had ksportd which have the same drop as the sportlines and they were a reasonable price. Now shocks are what's going to kill you price wise.
ya i have ksports paired with dspecs. the springs were a reasonable price at 120 something on ebay with free shipping just have to look. like josh c said the struts are whats going to cost you the most out your pocket. i bought mine of ebay as well and i paid somewhere around 5 something i believe might be wrong its been a while since the purchase, but i dont regret getting them at all worth every penny in my opinion.
Im willing to bet that your eBay springs are going to sag out bad.

interested. pm me with more details if serious.
well ive had these on my car for about a year and a couple of months already and they dont sag i mean they settled a little since i put them on but that was a while back and hasnt sagged any lower. now im not saying they still cant but i would think they would of sagged pretty bad by now if they were going to get any worse, i drive on some rough roads with them so they get a beating. im not to worried about them though im going to get some gc's once i save up for some or maybe when i get my taxes coming up in a couple months.
tokico d-specs, rk sport springs.
if money is an issue buy the springs first. use them until you blow your struts then youll have a reason to justify buying the dspecs
