Ok i have searched allot and the number 1 thing everybody says is replace the rear strut mounts. Well i have brand new strut mounts and eibach prokit spring with tokico hp struts. The problem or rather noise i am hearing is a very quiet clunking noise when hitting slight bumps.
I solved the problem of the loose spring seat at the bottom of the strut. I wrapped the bottom of the spring with a garden hose and painted it black to match the spring. That made the spring fit very snug and tight. The top i noticed was also loose fitting but i didn't put the hose on that part. Maybe i should? Maybe that is where the noise is coming from? Maybe the spring is shifting around at the top when i hit small bumps? Any help would be great.. Thanks
Anybody have any ideas? Is it normal to have a little bit of noise?
I think i figured it out. I have a 2.5" exhaust and now it's about 1/4" away from the rear axle. I think now when i hit bumps my exhaust taps the axle. Thanks for all the help everyone.
what are you going to do about the alleged problem then?
I'll take a 2 hour ride back to Custom Tubes Inc and have Willy make an adjustment to the exhaust. I'll have him put in a higher loop that goes over the axle.
ah, write back on here after to see if it stopped the sound.
Oh yea i will. I'm heading up there next friday on the 17th i made the appointment for.
Well the exhaust is all fixed and it fixed my suspension noise. There are no more noises now..
glad to hear it...i only have 9 more posts after this one for the month??? :-(
Yea, my exhaust was about 1/2" away from my rear axle. So on most all the bumps i hit, the axle would tap my exhaust pipe making me think it was my new suspension setup. What a huge relief and a quiet ride. If your rear suspension is making noise check your exhaust pipe going over the axle. It needs to be at least 2" away depending on how low and how hard the suspension setup is
