So ive had my new setup for a couple of weeks now and im not very happy with how it rides. I have new d-specs and canuck motorsports springs with a 1.8" drop. The rear of the car kind of feels bouncy no matter how stiff i adjust the struts. The front feels pretty good but the back just doesnt feel right. Its kind of hard to explain. Im assuming the struts are fine because they are brand new and when i push down on the back of the car it comes right back up, the only bounce is in the tires. I had some one in the back the other day and when i went over a bump in the road they would come right up off the seat and hit there head. Canuck told me there springs are porgressive and they gave me the spring rates of 180 frt and 160 rear. Does that seem a little soft for the drop? Im thinking its either the springs or i cant get the d-specs tuned in right. Any one have any insight into my problem or suggestions. I might get some sportlines I think they are more stiff. I dont really know too much about suspension.
Thanks
Chris
I forgot to mention i cut the bump stops between the first and second rib. "cutting the head off the snow man" as ive also heard it called. Do you think that is enough?
Well... I have no experience myself with the Canuck springs, though I know there are tons of people using them (I thought I'd reply to your thread though
)
Sounds like you got the bumpstops cut properly... so that's not the problem. Have you tried softening up the rear settings? I have my Koni Reds set at the middle point, and it's not bad at all... there's some give, but it's not a harsh ride as you're describing.

With those spring rates I wouldn't think you'd have to run the D-specs that stiff. Makes me wonder how stiff my B&G's are. With the head cut off the snowman I can't even push down on the car, seriously they're stiff as a board.
i can push the car down in the rear quite easily. the springs feel quite soft
Should i buy stiffer springs. The rear of the car feels bouncy or will softenening the rear take care of that?
The stiffer you go, the more bounce you will get going down the road. Pushing down on the trunk isnt gonna generate enough force to come to a conclusion, its the weight of the car that needs to be the deciding factor.
What's the condition of your tires?
After i had my Cav dropped, the rear was bouncy as hell, and got even worse with the rear sway bar installed. Then I destroyed my passenger side wheels when I caught a curb...one of the best things that ever happened to my car.
With a new set of wheels and tires, it handles great, hardly any rear end bounce. I still need better struts, though.
It may not solve the problem you're having, but just suggesting it.

Try calling Tokico, it may be a bad set of struts?

Yesterday I softened up the struts and it helped a lot. I had them set 2 turns from full hard. Now they are set 6 turns in the front and 5.5 turns in the back. I think the struts are fine because i can feel a difference when i adjust them. It feels pretty good now, close to stock but a bit stiffer and no body roll. I think i just had them adjusted way too stiff for the spring rates. The roads around here are pretty bad also.
I've settled into the softer range of the D-specs with my Sportlines. It was a natural choice, seeing as the stiffest settings were not so much bouncy as downright painful for daily driving. I'm not surprised the Canuck springs would be lead to a similar setup.
