I swear i looked around before posting this. None of the link's in the faq were working for me so here goes. I ran into some skunk2 coilovers on craigslist and cant figure out how to install them. Is there anywhere i can find either a how to w/pic's or something i can print on how to install em? Oh incase it matters im putting them on a 98 cavi w/a 2.2
well... those are junk. i honestly say dont use em.
i had a set on my car for a whole summer, granted with stock struts but the ride was so un bearable. it literally felt like there was absolutely zero suspension and it was all welded solid.
see the problem is they dont come with their own spring perches. you have you use them on the stock perches... and by doing so you get zero drop. now.. if you were to physically CUT the threaded column portions in half, you could actually see a height difference. a big one. i had mine screwed all the way down and it was just at stock level. it really bummed me out.
i will say that the car handled amazing with these on it though. but thats due to the fact that it was so solid nothing moved.

To late for that. I cut and installed the drivers side koni and coil over but i have the coilover sitting on top of the strut and there is about a two inch gap between the spring bottom and the original spring perch. Now the drivers side sit's higher than the passenger with the spring fully extended and it was to much of a B*tch for me to tighten it so im done for the night. Im sure if screwed it up and will go back at it tomorrow. Anyone know where im supposed to mount the CO's?
thats how they sit. they dont come with a replacemet spring perch. so... as soon as there is weight on the car everything will squeeze together.

I took it for a test run and either im an idiot or ......well there is no or, im just an idiot. There is no way i installed it correctly. every time i hit even the slightest bump it sounds like i have no strut or spring. Straight up metal on metal "THUNK". I basically raised it 1/4 inch and removed all dampening? So some more fiddeling or im just gonna toss the coilovers and run the koni's with the stock springs (unless thats a bad idea?).
if anyone has the skunk2 coilovers on anything resembling a 98 cavi please snap a pic post it so i get an idea of what to do?

Ok so i got the set it and it's actually not as bad as i expected. The Back sit's allot lower for some reason so i had to raise it halfway up the sleeve to get it level and to avoid the constant bouncing. It's not the greatest but it will do untill i get a different setup. Whats a good budget setup to run to lower the car and have good ride?
pick up a set of eibach pro kit springs. they float around the classifieds constantly. people nearly give them away...
