DIAF.

You dont have coil-overs. Coil-overs come with their own strut(Tein, Gravana, STD, etc).

I know you meant the rod. Just because you can doesn't make it a good idea.

You ever toss it in neutral and floor it just because you can? Probably not.

Just don't cut struts. Do it right.

It's not a new thing, its been done plenty of times on all kinds of cars, doing it would help solve the lack for travel when lowered but the stock struts are such crap from the factory they will not handle the higher spring rates of aftermarket springs. Your wasting your time doing it on a J.

^ ^ ^ Definitely nothing new. Matter of fact a company by the name of Bectech used to sell shortened struts for a few cars. I've seen some pics of VW struts getting shortened also.

Sure, go ahead and cut / rethread the rod.

Now what's your plan to improve the valving so they can handle the higher spring rate?

dear god why? why must we still have people trying to rig up crap so it 'works'?

we have SEVERAL amazing strut and suspension options out there pluck for the taking. koni yellows, tokico d-specs, kyb agxs, tein ss's, kw variant 3's, std's... the list goes on and on.

you've got to pay to play.

When I read a thread like this, I wonder who here actually has some sort of background in automotive suspension systems, and who just spouts off with some crap they read on some other internet site. Over 60% of the posts in this thread fall into the 2nd group. Sad.
