rear big brakes

Ive been doing a lot of looking and reading around. I am going to try a 79-85 caddilac seville rear brake swap. The rotors are 12 inch and the calipers have integral parking brakes. I already have brackets to put them on a 12bolt rear so Id have to modify that to fit the J rear hub. I can get a pair of loaded calipers and drilled rotors for just over 200. So as soon as I can sell some junk on ebay Im gonna give it a shot. Just thought Id share my Idea. Im also going to swaps on camaro front brakes.

Yeah, I have that exact same setup on my truck. By the way, the integral parking brake on those calipers isn't self adjusting(the initial screw throw and it must be adjusted with double wrench's at first) and it just plain blows. Wont hold @!#$ either, you really need like 3" of brake cable throw which are cars don't have.. Also, your not going to be able to get this to fit behind the hub since you will space out the hub out of the hub-centric axle hole...leaving all the weight of the car to be held by the bolts in single shear(weakest possible way to use a fastener). Also, you wont be able to put it behind the axle mount since the axle back itself isn't flat much less big enough to put enough meat around the bolts that go through it. You also wont be able to put this on the front of the hub flange since the hub face isn't very flat either.

Give it a shot, you might come up with something interesting, but in any case, those calipers suck balls.

Thanks for the info, sux to hear about the parking brake. I figured mounting the caliper would take a little ingenuity. I had also thought about getting some rear camaro brakes n playing with them since the have a nice thin backing plate like the cavalier and neon but i was trying to avoid messing with a drum style parking brake. Guess Im going to have to go junk yard searching lol.

Yeah, honestly I'd keep on moving past that option cause even if it does work one way or the other...those calipers suk so bad I'm going to be putting the drums back on my truck until I get a 14bsf axle with discs from a wrecker. Screw that crap, the calipers suuuuuuuuuuck.
