What the average life expectancy for a DD with either of these struts?
Feel free to share your stories, and also, what would you guys pay for used d specs with 35000 miles on them?
32k on mine and no problems whatsoever, bought em with 20k on them and paid 300 but I got a deal from a freind on d specs and sportlines for 400.
dspecs have a lifetime warrenty iirc
Eat my shift
is $350 about right for d specs with about 35000 miles on em?
They include springs, but i just want the struts.
Yea that seems about right
m2... my car is slow wrote:dspecs have a lifetime warrenty iirc
For the original owner. I bought mine used & blew one out, had to pay to replace it.
I have been running the Hp Struts for 80 thousand KM,And had no issues at all with them,They work well,And I will use them again when I change them..
Well i plan on buying HP's to go with my goldlines.
But i see a few d specs for sale in the classifieds and a set on eBay for around the $350 mark.
And i already figured the life time warranty was for the orig. owner, which is about right, but just want to see how the two compare over the long run.
And while I'm asking questions,is a camber kit really necessary for a 1.75'' drop?
Our cars don't need a samber kit.
Well i didn't think so,but doesn't hurt to ask.
Anybody got any other mileage reports?
I've had my dspecs since the first month they were on the market, paired with sportlines. I haven't run into one single issue, so I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you're just looking to get by for a year or so before they blow, the HP's might be fine.
Mine have been on since September 2005, and I've put about 65,000km's on them (just over 40,000miles). I know it's not too much, but I don't drive it during the winter.

No there not.......and yes they will.
Checked with tokico.
OMG,HPs Are not Stock Replcements,The only diff between the HP,And Dspec is the Adjustment factor thats it...
not sure about the hp being a stock replacement or not but i had a friend with them on his eclipse and it was really low and he never had a problem with them. On the other hand i have had the d specs for about almost a year now and i love them. they can eithier hurt your back(full stiff) or ride somewhat close to stock have mine set to 4 or 5 turns from full stiff, i have mine paired with ksport springs which are the same drop as sportlines if im not mistaken.
Iyea but your ksports sit lower than my sportlines. Maybe its your lip kit.
i dont know if it sat lower than yours with the sportlines i only saw yours with the megans that you have on there if im not mistaken.but im sure the lips make a world of difference cuz mine does sit somewhat low, but bot low enough for me time for somr gc's.lol
Thanks for the reply's guys.
I think I'm gonna go with the hp's with my goldlines.
I talked to tokico via email, and hp's are just the same as d-specs except the adjustment dial.
I really don't need the adjustment or the price tag for em,so looks like hp's for me.
Those are what I'm eyeballing.
the blues will be fine if you plan to replace then in six months. there is a reason people here say no to the blues and a drop because if you look at the history they blow. the only struts i would say use with a drop are koni yellows and d-spec's. i had kyb agx and the rears blew on my car.
you can go out and buy what you want but please don't post (man these stupid $#@*&%! struts) Nuff said!
see ya!
If this is the case why have I had my HP Struts for 2 years with nothing blowing out..
And please show me the history list on the HP struts blowing out..
As Tokico told me 80% of the so call blow out of struts is due to improper installation..When people use a pair of pliers on the Shaft and cause scratches on it,Which in turn will cause the strut to fail early.
And I am running a 2 inch drop on the front and a 1.4 in the rear...
roads have alot to do with it. as well as bump stops
see ya!
Well roads here are pretty decent, and i plan on cutting my bumps 1'' according to the instructions with my goldlines.
And no offense to anybody on here, but if tokico is telling me they can handle the drop,i think the logical thing to do is trust their word over a forum with half the people who don't know what their talking about.
Im running the HP setup, but mine are running a bit lower drop, no problems yet, got 30,000k, and that's edmonton roads, and the "oh so wonderfull highway 43 here in Alberta, I have also ran them hard and I'd say HP setup is great for the price
