did a little searching on here, but the only thing I keep finding are posts with ppl asking how far they can go without getting coilovers. what I wanna know is: what coilovers offer the lowest drop?? this includes needing camber kits to fix camber, cause thats not a big deal. what will give me the biggest drop before getting into air ride?
based off of other ppl's opinions, it would seem that Bilstein offers the lowest, while the Tein SS are the highest. and the Gravana's come with the most issues it would seem

first off... why do you want to be so low? secondly...having the control arms further than parallel to the ground is
not good for handling. more than about a 1.5-2" drop does this on our cars.
if you want a suspension for HANDLING you need not worry about the drop. worry about suspension theory and what makes things work together better.
if you want to 'drop it like its hot' than get bags. end of story.

I am pretty sure for the Teins you can get shorter springs for them and make them just as low if not lower then GCs
why thank you Zyaaaa for that revelation
yes, I do want it mostly for handling (cause I'm a touring whore), but the good thing with coilovers would be height adjustablility. I can dump it on its nuts when just cruising around, but raise it back up to a good height if/when I can find a road course and the time to go... cause no, I dont try to road race on public roads out here, so being slammed in town wont matter

dumping it is going to cause reliability problems with the struts. only two that are height adjustable without affecting travel are the gravana's and the std coilovers.
^^ and i think the kw variants 3's do as well.... at least for the money the rape you for them they damn well had better.
pedo bear - thats fine, i understand you wanting to do that... however... when you adjust the ride hight like that you are constantly changing the suspension geometry and as such you really should do an alignment after each and every adjustment. at least that is what i have always understood as the correct way. most dont even bother with an alignment after doing a simple strut or spring change due to stupidity so thats why i say this.

That's why I've always done my own alignments and camber changes with changes to the suspension on the Cavy.
It's not totally accurate but when you can get 40K+ miles on a set of tires, you're bound to be doing something right.
And I need to check on the KW's to see if they have ride height adjustments with their V3 setup without affecting the amount of spring preload like some other coilovers.
Tinkles made a good point about this in the STD thread which really opened up my eyes about ride height adjustments. I would also think that it would have an even more positive effect when it comes time to corner balancing the car too.

even knowing the best handling is parallel control arms, with my rk sports slammed all the way down in the front, they are not parallel. but the car still handles like its on rails. as far as reliability. i just did the wheel bearings at 100K, and had the suspension on like it is for 70-80K miles... not blown either. fronts height adjust was seized up when i bought them, never adjusted them ever... ryan didnt either. he slammed them and left them. not sure how many miles he put on them. and when jon went for a ride he was thoroughly impressed with the ride quality of them. i thought it sucked but he said compared to most in his opinion that it road pretty damn nice. now im sure i could get better cornering by making them parallel with the ground but im not going to attempt it and end up destroying the fronts, and gaining wheel gap. as it sits my wheel wells are filled perfect in my eyes. ill sacrifice some handling for the lowered look. and considering i drag race/auto x, you cant do that on bags and be as successful. so i TOTALLY see your reason for bags being out of the question. i thought about bagging mine a million times but dont want to lose ride quality/race ability.
i would recommend you pick up those rk's or the STD's that pj did a review on. sounds like the std's are a little pricey but well worth it.
