Rear end seems to swing when turning

I hope someone can point me to a solution to this.

Over the last couple days, it feels as when I do a quick turn right or left, the rear of my car hesitates then jerks in that direction.

For instance, any time I do a quick swerve to miss, say a pothole, the rear hesitates a split second, then shoots to that side plus some then jerks back in line. It does the same thing when I swerve back, it tries to keep going but then gets stopped. This causes the car to wobble a bit and I'm afraid it's going to cause me to lose control if I don't fix it.

It only really becomes apparent when I'm traveling over 40 mph.

I changed all 4 shocks and struts less than 15,000 miles ago, they don't seem to be bad or anything, the car rides normally in a straight line. They respond normally if I get out and push down on the corners, they go down half an inch then back up with no bounce. I also checked tire pressure and each is 30 psi, just what they should be.

Could the rear axle be loose or something? It feels as if that might be the case, but I haven't had the time or space to check yet.

I think a rear tie bar would help out greatly!
I just happen to sell those!

While not a bad upgrade, it's obvious there is something wrong, and that should be fixed first.

I would start with checking all of your bolts and inspect your bushings. Something is either worn or loose.

hate to be the mental midget here, but almost every time that has happened to me it was because my air pressure was off......

Check your front lower ball joints

14.82 @ 97 mph

I had some time and nice weather today to take a good look at things. It felt like the back for awhile, but I eventually determined it's the front. I have a loose CV joint that should be unrelated, but might be contributing and the alignment is way out of whack. I've never had it so misaligned before that it seemed like something was really broken or worn. It must be all the winter potholes taking their toll. I'll replace the joint and get an alignment and hopefully it'll be good again after that. Thanks for the input guys!

Check the rear wheel bearings. I had this happen to me when I had a bearing go bad not to long ago.
