ABS light- idk what else to do
Thursday, June 10, 2010 2:12 PM
Hey as the title says...my abs light comes on as soon as i start the car and just stays on....checked the front sensors and the fuses..light still on....my question is, what else can i test?? is there anyway to test the rear sensors? since they are part of the hub itself?.. maybe anything else i can check...car is a 2002 Z24

you need to find out what the code is that is stored in the abs module before going any further.

For any reason have you ever had the front abs modles off at some time? I remember when I had to replace my hubs I kept getting the ABS light on, I figured out I didn't have the abs sensors close enough to the teeth on the hubs. Fixed that issue and the light went away.

Just a thought.

Clear all codes and see what codes do not clear.

they all come back on instantly..left my battery unhooked entire night...the abs does not blink while turning key on or starting so it must not be doing its test. and i checked the fuses, the plug in for the abs module...seems like it is not getting power.

check for power at the abs module and check yor grounds if you have good power and grounds i would say you need an abs module.

well if the abs module was not getting power it would not spit out any codes, and i changed the abs module, cleared the codes and i'm getting a c1233 and c1235 codes...which is alot less than the 10 codes lol...so my ques is....does the connector for the front sensor go to the back one also? maybe one of them can be setting them off?

no they have separate harnesses you could check the resistance of those circiuts and if they read zero ohms that means the wires are good and would lead me to bad sensors. to do this you need to disconnect the connector at the abs module and the sensors and use an ohm meter to check them. you will have two wires per sensor so check them all one will be a low referance circiut and the other should be the signal.
