The GCs have an aluminum top hat. I dont see any specific notes saying his hats are needed for an particular CO application.

Yeah, I've got them, you just have to make sure he sends you the correct spacer/adapter that fits between the bottom of the pillow ball and the the shaft, and also the conical nut he makes for the top. Not sure on the strut your ussing but the nut is actually a little too tall for the koni's and it covers the hex at the top of the shaft that's there to keep the shaft from spinning while you torque the nut. But that's not a big issue if you have an impact wrench. And yes I know Koni says specifically do not use impact, but what choice do you have ,and I haven't had any issues almost 18 months now.

I had to make my own spacer/ adapter when I did my pillow ball mounts.
I'd actually thrown away the originals but the ones I used were much stronger and better than what Mark sent with the mounts.
Worth every penny too.
I don't have coil overs but with the normal shock setup, it's a world of difference.
Good luck with it.

Fixed that for you.

As of now I'm not going the pillow ball mount. I need the mounts replaced ASAP and can't wait for the time to make and ship them. I plan to replace the struts in a couple months anyway.
I've been eye balling teins and they already have pillow ball mounts would suck to buy double.

On a side note, how are the rear solid mounts? do they use a spherical bearing as well? hard to tell on the website looking at the picture.

The rears don't have spherical bearings. I think there's only something like 5º of articulation in the rear anyway.

Yes, they have the spherical bearing in the setup.
You do have to mod the spring perch bushing a bit to keep the bushing from interfering with you using a socket to tighten up the mount to the strut tower and with my setup, I went, and drilled out two of the three holes to accommodate larger nuts and bolts for a stronger mounting base for the new mounts.
Once these minor modifications were done the mounts worked flawlessly and gave me another 1/2 inch drop to the rear which made the car sit even better.
I'll never go back to rubber based strut mounts again. With the solid mounts you can feel the shocks doing their thing way better because of the solid mounting to the strut tower.
I even went so far as to modify a set of pillow ball mounts for my Porsche to get rid of the stockers too.

They do but very small but they are spherical type bearings.
If you look closely you can see the bearing in the center of the hole.

Those are the mounts for the factory size springs. I have a pair of the OEM solid coilover mounts. It's just solid metal with a hole in it.

Interesting, do you have any more pictures of your rear mounts James?

Here is all you can stand on the mounts.
I just updated some information on the rears with some collars I made to replace the collars that OEM sent but I threw away.
I'd say though that my collars are a bit better made and much more robust and you'll see them near the bottom of the page with the yellow text.
Hope that helps.
